A state-of-the-art sports facility at Northumbria University Northumbria University has always been one of the most ambitious and successful UK universities for sport and in summer 2010 opened the doors to Sport Central, a £30 million state-of-the-art sports facility. Open to students, staff and the general public, Sport Central offers first class sports provision across a number of facilities including a 12m climbing wall, 25m swimming pool, golf simulator and fitness centre to name but a few.
