Review of Black Doldrums + Mirna Ray + Tvål + Killer Saucers
Awesome band. You could tell it was the last night of the tour. Not that they were knackered, but they were really tight and on it. Some great swirly tracks, reminded me of Sisters of Mercy or The Mission. it's surprising what a noise three people can make.

Review of James Walsh + Charlotte Carpenter
Superb artists, brilliant voices and music. The sound quality was excellent with every note played and every word sung crystal clear. Lovely intimate venue, great interaction with the artists. We had a fantastic time!

Review of Lichen Slow + Irrelevant Devices + Howling Bee
And the phenomenal music experiences just keep rolling in.
Malcolm Middleton is a hero to my work colleague Pete. He cancelled plans in Glasgow to experience this wonderful opportunity on his doorstep.
My knowledge of Middleton limited to a brilliant solo track called 'Four Cigarettes' and his work with Arab Strap. Good enough for me.
Lichen Slow perforning only their 2nd ever giga are a trio of Middleton singing in a Scottish, chiseled, low register tone. Joel Harries from Northampton is a higher register that reminded me of Orlando Weeks and Panda Bear. Quincy Brown on bass knows Pete. It's a work thing.
Together their vocals are harmonious joy. The guitars synchronise beautifully too. It reminded me of how much I miss Wild Beasts
Yes I have bought the album taking my total up to 9 today.
Before the trio we had a duo.
Irrelevant Devices who I saw at The Lab in Northampton a few months ago played their EP. My kinda thing. Layering of guitars and electronics with clever use of 35 year old technology. When the game boys don't crash.
Before the duo we had solo.
Howling Bee started off local and has moved further afield. I am going to open with a song about divorce. Quite a few cheered. Me included. Beautiful guitar playing.
The venue is my favourite in Northampton and one of my favourites in the UK. Great sound in the venue and the front of the pub and beer garden both had DJs playing. Drinks are half of the price of what you expect to pay elsewhere.
Way to finish Record Store Day in Northampton.
