Review of Could Be Real Tribute Festival at Newstead Abbey
Really nice night. VIP area was nice and the whole event was clean. Music was good and everyone was having a great time. Food stalls fantastic and good value will say bar prices were a bit steep and 7 quid for a very tiny Prosecco felt to but otherwise would recommend

Review of Could Be Real Tribute Festival at Newstead Abbey
This was a very good event - there were a couple of niggles that stopped it from being excellent.
The first was the lack of signage and information - we got the shuttle bus from the Abbey Gates but there was no bus stop or schedule information available.
When we arrived at the Abbey- we had VVIP entrance, which was very well done - once inside, there were no site plans or running orders - the running order had obviously changed from the email sent the night before - we arrived around 5pm with the first band scheduled at5.30pm, bu the 'Spice Girls', who were due on the woodland stage at 7.30pm were already playing their set.
In my opinion the VVIP tickets were good value - despite lack on signage, we found the VIP loos and and bar and have to say the facilities were first class and worth the supplement.
The food selection was varied and reasonably priced - the bar prices were not extortionate.
The woodland stage was well hidden away and a total lack of signage made entry and egress a bit chaotic. I think it was also too small and set back too far, but I suppose you have to work with what is available.
The music and atmosphere were very good - slightly dampened by the ill-timed rain, but the organisers have no control over that. Again poor information flow when the two top acts on the main stage - 'Queen' and 'Oasis' were swapped from the previous day's email, and it was only by luck that we saw this and managed to catch the 'Queen' set.
The gold circle facility was very good, and well worth the supplement.
My main gripe was when we came to leave - a bit early, with lots of other folk, due to the weather and the fact we had seen who we wanted to see.
There was no clearly marked bus stop to catch the shuttle bus, though we worked out that it would be roughly the same place it dropped us. The entry / exit area of the car park, where the shuttle bus stopped was a mess. There were lots of taxis coming to pick people up at the same time as cars were leaving - the selfish parking of the taxis caused a bottleneck and there were two city council employees in florescent jackets, who I assume were there to marshal things, doing very little - waving an arm about totally ineffectually because off their umbrellas that they insisted on keeping up (even though it had stopped raining by this time).
I hate to think what the chaos was like later, when the bulk of the crowd were trying to leave; and a lot more taxis were trying to pick up their fares - this could have been so easily sorted with a designated taxi area, a signed bus stop and competent marshalling.
I am really glad we managed to get the shuttle, as the walk back along the dark narrow drive to the Abbey Gates looked to be very dangerous indeed. A lot of the drive doesn't have footpaths, and the two way stream of traffic made it an accident waiting to happen. Very surprising in these risk averse times.
Overall, despite the niggles, it was a good event - that could have been excellent, with better organisation and better weather - I hope it returns in 2025.

Couldn't take your own drinks in but bar prices were extortionate and the Pepsi was flat. The times of the acts were changed and we weren't aware. We totally missed Queen who were meant to be headlining but played earlier. Not as good as other festivals we go to unfortunately.

The only thing that would have improved the event for me would be to have all acts on one stage as I am disabled and have difficulty walking. Overall had a great time though
