Review of Groovebox Halloween | Unit 13

What even was this event? Who was it for? What was the target audience? What was the theme? It was a day event (2pm-10pm), that was moved from an airy day-vibe style venue to an industrial style club venue. No issue with the venue itself - I’m sure with a properly organised event it’s a decent venue (although the sound system wasn’t a good as I thought it’d be given the relatively small size of the venue). But the event just didn’t know what it was. Was it a day sesh? A club event? An evening do? A student pre-drinks event? What was it? Was there a 5pm cut-off for entry (didn’t look like it)? So many questions…
We arrived at 5pm, left around 7:30pm and headed some bars instead.

It wasn’t very busy but I really liked that about it as it was easy to get a drink. There wasn’t anywhere we could find in the venue to sit down/chill out which was a bit annoying as we had to be in there at 5pm.

so hot it was unbreathable, girls being carried out from collapsing and the crowd was so swewaty and pushy, such a shame because sammy virji's old sets like in brickworks boiler room used to be so much more interactive and has such a more "selective" crowd of his actual fans

Detonate always oversell tickets.

My only negative is it was massively overcrowded in the 1 area where Sammy was playing. Looks like the capacity was for the whole unit but everyone was crammed in the 1 room

I did love it, great venue and visuals Was buzzin to get a proper detonate wristband but why was there no lineup / set times online or in the venue? I didn’t know who I was listening to before or after the headliner.
