About

Tommyfield market was home to the first chip shop and is immersed in history, character and has a story to tell. Open markets were once held on land owned by Thomas Whittaker, the land soon became known as Tommyfield and it was then christened Tommyfield Market. The market is still a very lively place and there is over 115 stalls to visit- each one offering something different. A lot of the traders at the vast market have been trading there for over 20 years so it’s a close community.
