About

Langtree Sinfonia has existed for more than 50 years, and is now under the dynamic musical direction of Kevin Withell, with Steve Large as its new and highly skilled Leader. On 16th November they will be playing Beethoven's Eroica Symphony no. 3, which is an instrumental and abridged version of his opera 'Fidelio.'

This will be followed by Dvorak's Czech Suite, a tuneful and elegant collection of pieces. A lyrical prelude is followed by a jolly Polka, then the Minuet is actually written for the Czech folk dance the Sousedska. Then a lyrical Romance is ended by an exciting Finale - 'furiant' is its instruction, and best description.

After the interval where wine will be available, the orchestra bring to life Beethoven's 4th Symphony. Although not as well known as its neighbours 3rd (Eroica) and 5th, the 4th is well worth hearing, and shows his artistic skill in a construction that is simpler than some, but extremely beautiful.
