About

Formed in 1976 in Edinburgh, Scotland, John Peel favourites The Rezillos were viewed as a punk act simply because they emerged at that time in the history of rock. But there was so much more to The Rezillos and their music.  Their music avoided the overworked and often cliched social commentary of many of their counterparts, replacing this with an irreverent synthesis that drew from their rock and pop of the previous 20 years laced with the occasional slice of science fiction, obtuse B-movie sensibiliites, and a dash of girl group iconography that set them apart from their musical peers.
• Initially performing mainly ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll covers at their live shows, Rezillos guitarist and future Human League band member – Jo Callis - began penning their own original songs, and soon after came the release of their highly acclaimed debut LP, Can’t Stand The Rezillos. The Rezillos had been signed to influential American label Sire Records and they became labelmates alongside the Ramones and Talking Heads
• Although the Rezillos had laid the groundwork of touring and honing their performances and despite the underground following they had developed it seems the London-centric music circles were taken aback when the band sliced through to make their chart entry ''Top of the Pops'', appearing on the very show that their single parodied.  Soon after appearing on the Old Grey Whistle test the band cemented their audience and their album made the Top Ten.
• Pressures of their new-found stardom had an adverse effect on the band and they sensationally broke up at the advent of a sold-out 30 date tour.
• It took some time for the idea to settle in the mind that the time had come to reform the band in 2001. SInce then the Rezillos have toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, and made several visits to the USA, Canada, South America and Japan. Their depth of heritage and rich musical creations continue to fascinate old and new followers.
• A new album ''Zero'' was released to critical acclaim. And now the Rezillos are working on a new album to be released in 2024. Touring will be starting again From July 2024 running through to December where fans will begin to hear woven into their set, some of the new songs destined for that brand new Album.
