Review of Beluga Lagoon - Dunoon Queen's Hall
I was not impressed with the venue last night. Thought the sound quality and lighting was poor when comparing to previous Gigs. Struggled to hear Andrew, Beti and Gregor over the Instruments as well at times. Also struggled to see the band as well on the stage with the lighting being very poor. There was a lot of folk in the venue that were drunk and at times just looking for trouble with others. Forgot to add in my other review that I seen someone jump over the barrier and grab som**hing off the stage at the end which was really inconsiderate and I don't think the band were happy about it. Some people also need to plan ahead better before they arrive at the venue. I got asked a lot of questions about the venue from others that should have been asked months before the day of the Gig. No point in waiting ten minutes before the door opens to ask if there are any seats in the hall. Highlights last night for me has to start with the Choir. Thought they were excellent and they seem like a nice group of people. Beti was great as well and has a great voice. Matt on the drums at the back was great to watch as well. Nice to hear some songs live for the first time too. Nice big bar at the side of the hall that worked well and kept people in the hall. I would without doubt recommend Beluga Lagoon and the Choir to anyone. Just be careful about what venue you choose. Was not impressed with Killin or Dunoon. Barrowlands, Aberdeen Music Hall, Aviemore and Albert Halls in Stirling are much better than the Queens hall in Dunoon. Look forward to the O2 Gig on the 19th and Kelvin Grove next year. Both look like stunning venues!
