At A Glance…

Join the Lancashire Music Association for the very first Lancashire Music Summit: an event for any, and all music stakeholders, including those working on public domain music and related activities, professionals, semi-professionals, and anyone interested in developing a sustainable career in the music industry.

We will be presenting discussion panels with industry experts and bringing together Lancashire’s music people to build networks and discuss: 

·       How we develop our music ecosystems, talent, industry, infrastructure, and audiences throughout the county, to enhance cultural and economic impact.

·       How we develop sustainable music related careers in Lancashire.

·       How we defragment the county’s music industry to harness its collective might and focus it into powerful movement in the same direction.

Part 1: 12.30pm – 5.30pm | 53 Degrees, Brook Street, Preston, Lancashire PR1 7HN.

Part 2: 5.30pm – Late | The Ferret, 55 Fylde Road, Preston, Lancashire, PR1 2XQ.

The event is FREE to attend, but you must book in advance.

What's It About?

The first-ever Lancashire Music Summit is set to be a pivotal event for anyone involved with music in Lancashire. It will also mark the official launch of the Lancashire Music Association (LMA). Whether you're a professional, semi-professional, aspiring musician, or work within public domain music and related fields, this summit is designed to help develop professional music related activities. The event will bring together the county’s music communities to discuss and shape the future of Lancashire's music industry. The day will conclude with networking at The Ferret, with an open mic evening, offering the perfect opportunity to perform and connect with peers and professionals alike.

Who Will Be There?

The summit will welcome a diverse group of attendees, including industry experts, representatives, music makers, producers, venue operators, promoters, managers, DJs, record labels, publishers, tech, supply chain, retail, educators, investors/ funders and other music stakeholders. If you have any interest in connecting to the music industry professionally, this is a chance to interact with accomplished professionals and to get involved in actively shaping the music landscape in the region.

Four key panel discussions with Q&A’s will be featured:

Part 1

Panel 1: Developing our Music Industry – Infrastructure and Ecosystems 

Facilitated by Ann Harrison, Music Lawyer and Author of Music: The Business.
Join leading industry figures such as Lancashire music entrepreneur David Wood, and Daniel Jones (PRS for Music), along with other experts from the Association of Independent Music (AIM), the Musicians Union (MU), Lancashire Music Hub, et al, as they explore what is needed for music industry to flourish.

Panel 2: The Social Consumption of Music

Facilitated by Tony Rigg - Music Industry Advisor, Author, Educator, Founder @ Lancashire Music Association.
This panel will feature Richard Dyer (co-founder of Skiddle and Highest Point Festival), Michael Kill (CEO of the Night Time Industries Association - NTIA), Jay Taylor (Music Venue Trust - MVT), Jeremy Rolands (Owner the Ferret and the Continental) and other luminaries who will discuss the development of music scenes and how to grow Lancashire’s reputation as a place to experience world class music.

Panel 3: Artistry and Sustainable Careers 

Facilitated by John Robb, Musician, Best Selling Author, Presenter, and more.
This panel will feature Will Wolstenholme (BBC Introducing), a host of artists and musicians, and Johnny Jay (Producer/ Independent Label Owner/ Digital Specialist), who will discuss approaches and offer insights into how to develop and monetise craft in the post-digital age.

Panel 4: Open Forum Facilitated by Tony Rigg and Professor Ewa Mazierska

Closing Part 1 of the Summitwe will open discussions with you, the delegates, around the current position in Lancashire, including the challenges and opportunities facing music practitioners and how we can work together to move our industry forward and amplify the impacts of our music activities in Lancashire. You can share your perspective and gain further insights from other stakeholders who operate in the same industry.

Networking and Johnny Jay's MixrUPt Open Mic Take Over @ the Ferret
