Review of Ikebana Workshop Class with Junko Popham

The room wasn't ideal as it was very difficult to hear the speaker, who was very quietly spoken and wouldn't use the microphone. The first hour wasn't great, a meandering introduction which wasn't easy to follow or hear. More time could have been spent talking through the history of Ikebana and design principles, and using a screen to illustrate the talk. The event improved once we started doing practical work but I would have liked more verbal feedback on my work, rather than simply rearranging what I had done without much explanation. I enjoyed the creative side of what we did, and met some interesting people, but for the price of the workshop I would have liked to have been allowed to take home my handiwork. I would however encourage the venue to hold more similar events as I think it's a great idea, but maybe test out the speaker and content beforehand.

Dave Haslam was amazing, a proper blast from the past, we danced all night. The venue is so good, food and drink all great and the building and garden is gorgeous, lots of atmosphere and a really friendly crowd.

The venue is fabulous. Very different and something Akin to what you'd expect to find in Manchester which us new for Preston. The garden is lovely and landscaped to look natural. Will be great on a sunny day. The toilets could do with some TLC though at the back on the main hall. Food stalls are excellent very different and excellent unusual food. Trough was my favourite and the signature c**ktail was yummy! all the staff were brilliant at all the stalls. One other thing....the heating needs to be sorted. The building is probably hard to heat but you needed to keep your coat on and this doesn't encourage you to stay. Other than that it is a great venue 👌 Well Done x
