Reviews of The Warehouse in Preston
The Warehouse venue information
An alternative venue since 1972 it was originally named The Warehouse, then Raiders, and then back to The Warehouse in 1988 when the current owners took over.
The club has a massive alternative history. During the late 70s The Warehouse was THE punk venue in the whole of the north-west. The club was famous, and played host to some of the coolest bands around. Joy Division played at the club only 12 weeks before Ian Curtis's death.
Black Flag had a hectic night in Preston, and lead singer Henry Rollins was beaten up in the mosh pit (a situation which he later famously referred to on Channel 4's The Word). The band China Crisis were regulars and a mention of the club can be found in one of their album sleeves. In 1986, The Stone Roses played at the club just before hitting the big time.
At that time the club had only one floor. The new owners had big ideas for the place, so soon the expansion began. The middle floor was opened in 1990 and the third floor in 1993.
Nowadays the club opens Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. With three floors playing different music each night, there truly is something for everyone here!
Entry prices are £2 before 11pm and £5 afterwards at weekends, £1 before 11pm, £2 after on Tuesdays.
The club is open from 10.30pm until 2.30am.
