Review of Chargecandy at Reading
4th or 5th time at Reading and love the festival, disability access is good although there are a few things that could improve things. The Co Op is other side to accessible field and you need to walk long way if you need anything that your restricted bringing through arena. wasn't that impressed with charging options it'd be nice to have lockers back that had charging points in accessible field for locking up things like meds. Wasn't hugely impressed with charge caddy as nearest was in arena to accessible field which meant i couldn't return it for deposit cos we left before arena opened on Sunday.
The change in music away from rock and alternative to more mainstream is a loss as there isn't really any festival hitting those genres. don't get me wrong its nice to have options to see some pop, rhythm and blue or grime artists. just might be nice to mix in some more rock acts.
Accessible viewing platforms are great but two main stages to navigate between when not great on your feet with crowd sizes they have is not something I felt safe to do. other than that nice to have lots of stage options. Festival app gives good updates and great way to find out secret sets, info and warnings.
only comedian I saw managed to insult every minority several times and then feel it was fair game to make issue of leaving the accessible platform mid set. It was like someone had decided Benny Hill was hight of British comedy. Definitely something I'll be raising with organisers.
All in all though I'll be getting ticket when they come out and wait for bands to be announced cos its a great weekend, and vibe on accessible field is good
