Sweet Electric. This is what happens when you transfer a slightly vertically challenged, fully formed rock star from Australia and relocate him to Köln. Brad formerly of Massive now fronts Sweet Electric, those of you who saw the Phil Campbell and his Bastard Sons tour will know how good these boys are. Here we get the fully stretched out headline set, touches of Ac/Dc and seventies glam for sure, but this band have their own joyous sound. It's pedal to the metal, cowbell infused, supercharged rock'n'roll. Their album is out now, look for the pineapple on the cover, maybe hinting at the swinging grooves within. The Verdaguers, very much influenced by Nirvana, when the singers hat fell off he looked more like Kurt than previously, when he was rocking the Wes from Puddle of Mud look. A very good, entertaining young band. The Cold Blooded Hearts opened with Kick Out The Jams and progressed to a more mainstream rock sound. They're fronted by former Wycombe Manager and footballing legend, Gareth Ainsworth, the addition of keyboards in the shape of Giselle Isabelle adds depth both visually and sonically. In conclusion, all three bands well worth seeing, a top way to spend a Sunday night.

About

The Purple Turtle has been a staple of Reading nightlife for over 34 years, first opening in 1990 and going strong ever since. The bar first opened on Duke Street before moving over to Gun Street when the Oracle was being built in 1997. It is one of the longest running independent bars in Reading, which is something we are fiercely proud of.
