Guest DJ's
Dave Seaman
There aren’t many artists who’ve sound tracked the birth of dance music and are still leading its development more than three decades later. There are even less who have gifted both the club and pop scenes with unforgettable musical moments that get talked about in hushed tones years after their creation. Dave Seaman is one of a select few. Whether it’s one of his spine-tingling Global Underground or Renaissance CDs that’s still burning a hole in your stereo years after its purchase, or the perfect pop of Kylie’s ‘Confide In Me’ that he co-wrote, produced and remixed, there’s very few with their heart in electronic music who haven’t been touched by his oeuvre in one form or another.
It’s a commonality that everyone from clubbers at Creamfields, to the biggest recording artists on the planet share. Having devoted almost every weekend over the last 30 years to moving dancefloors from Ibiza to New York, Berlin to Buenos Aires, Seaman has played the world’s most recognised festivals and clubs in more than 80 countries throughout his career, while still lending his production nous to the music industry’s A List. Along with crafting beats for Ms Minogue and Pet Shop Boys, everyone from David Bowie to New Order and U2 have enlisted his artistry.
Seaman played his first bona-fide professional DJ gig at the legendary Shelley’s in Stoke in 1990, stroking vinyl alongside a couple of emerging talents by the name of Sasha and Laurent Garnier. Acid house was blooming and Seaman’s boundless enthusiasm and creative spirit was petrol in it’s tank as he became the youngest Editor of clubber’s bible, Mixmag, giving a voice to a cultural revolution as electronic music swept across the world. Teaming up with producer and friend Steve Anderson, the duo recorded as Brothers In Rhythm, birthing the seminal rave anthem ‘Such A Good Feeling’ which became a UK Top 20 hit, while also issuing the landmark ‘Mixmag Live Volume’ 1 with Carl Cox in 1991 – a release that stands as one of the first ever commercially available mix compilations.. Without a doubt, his relationship with Renaissance is one of the most renowned in dance music, with Seaman having contributed 10 mixes to the revered series. Global Underground view the Brit in a similarly lofty light, having secured his services to mix their Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Cape Town & Lithuanian volumes.
Today, Seaman’s passion to exhibit boundary-breaking talent is as strong as ever. Via the independent record label Selador Recordings which he co owns with long time friend, Steve Parry, his inspired A&R has helped nurture some of the finest groove-merchants in dance music. The label’s roster speaks for itself, with Hernan Cattaneo, Rodriguez Jr, Robert Owens, Timo Maas, Danny Howells & Hannes Bieger all contributing tracks and remixes recently. 30 years on from that initial boyhood dream, the places and people may have changed, but Seaman’s passion hasn’t. As busy as ever, he still continues to create. His recent releases on Mobilee, Poker Flat, Sum Over Histories and Einmusika have seen him enjoy both critical and chart success and with a whole wave of new material ready for release, you know Seaman’s always on the frontline of electronic house music.
Steve Parry
Quite simply, Steve Parry is one of the unsung heroes of the UK’s electronic music scene. With over two decades of experience under his belt, he is without doubt one of the industry’s most respected figures not to mention one of the World’s most underrated DJs. A working DJ since the age of 15, Steve has amassed a wealth of musical knowledge and honed some serious DJ skills over his time working as manager of the world famous 3 Beat records, a 3 year residency at Cream in Liverpool and a host of headlining gigs across the globe. As a radio host, his Red Zone show ran for 10 years on Juice FM featuring the hottest new music and regular world class DJ guests.
His new weekly show ‘The Factory’ on Bliss Radio together Frisky radio continues in that vein delivering the best new music around. As a promoter Steve has had much success. Firstly with his legendary ‘Alderaan’ nights which ran from '97 - 2001 in a room above the infamous Lemon Lounge helped to shape the very scene Liverpool has become known for. Steve’s attention to detail and crowd focused guest selections has built a solid and lasting reputation in his hometown and far beyond. Aztec and Luna have followed in successful paths, showcasing Steve’s sound alongside a wealth of Internal guest DJ’s. These days Steve is mostly found working on his promotions company - SMP3 Music Management where he sources music for a range of DJs including Sasha, Behrouz, Dave Seaman, Sander Kleinenberg and many others. SMP3 also has a promo mail out service which regularly features tracks from labels such as Bedrock, Sudbeat, Lost & Found & Natura Sonoris.
Steve also realised a lifelong ambition recently with the launch of his first record label, Selador Recordings which he founded together with long time friend Dave Seaman in 2013. Their primary aim was to showcase their musical diversity and its success so far is mainly down to their passion and utter devotion to quality over quantity with the likes of Danny Howells, Cristoph, Quivver, Dubspeeka, Robert Babicz, D Nox & Beckers, Jimpster, Guy Mantzur and Audiojack having already made contributions to the imprint.
Inevitably, production has also grown to become a main focus for Steve in the last couple of years with several successful releases and remixes under his belt for the likes of Bedrock, Republik, Hydrozoa & of course, Selador under his belt. A music fan at heart, it kind of goes without saying, he is most happy immersed in his number one passion.
