We are very excited to welcome Ollie Dixon to our next Attikk Sessions in February.
Inspired by the likes of RY X, Novo Amor, Sufjan Stevens. Ollie Dixon has become a staple in the South West music scene cultivating a beautiful, distinctive soundscape within his music but also rich, captivating music videos that showcase coastlines and inspiration he considers home.
Ollie is known for blending atmospheric reverb and warm, delayed tones, crafting a sound that is unique and unmistakably his own.
In October 2024 - British Alternative Folk musician Ollie Dixon announced that his next next new single, would be called ‘Solace’ and leaked some of the track in a set of teaser posts on his instagram. The release date for the new single is still to be confirmed but is expected end of 2024/early 2025.
Solace is the second single release from Ollie's forthcoming EP which heralds the beginning of a fresh phase for this British artist. Solace follows the first single from the EP 'Byegone’ which has been featured on BBC Introducing, has been playlisted on Amazing Radio, reaching number 2 in the Amazing Radio New Music Chart and accumulated over 45,000 streams to date on Spotify
Ollie Dixon - in his own words on the creation of ‘Solace’
‘It’s genre that we call "cinematic ambient folk" blending our acoustic and electric guitars, drenched in reverb, with drum samples rather than conventional drums, layers of violins and arpeggiated synths. It’s a whole new direction for me personally but a path I've been wanting to explore for a while.
Solace is the release of the upcoming EP, Rebirth. Written about finding calm in the chaos, an almost meditative song.
Singles from Ollie's debut EP ‘Islands’ featured on Spotify’s Editorial playlists ‘Fresh Finds Folk and New Music Friday, securing number 1’s in the iTunes chart in Norway & The Netherlands and selected by BBC Introducing in the South West as their ‘Hotly Tipped’ track of the week and selected by Absolute Radio as their ‘self released artist of the month’ in July 2023 with St Agnes.
In addition to selling out a debut headline show at the Exeter Cavern, Ollie began touring the U.K & Northern Ireland selling out shows in London, Brighton, Bristol and Cornwall, Including multiple sold out headline shows for Sofar Sounds in England and Belfast.
Reviews
“Everything slows and the otherworldliness is emphasised as enigmatic sounds drift into play. This is a track that can genuinely be called evocative”
Review of ‘Harbour’ by Fresh on the Net
‘Ollie Dixon's is musical escapism in its purest form. Akin to the likes of Ben Howard, his sea-washed roots play a pivotal part in his melancholy yet atmospheric and soul-bearing storytelling. Without a doubt, one of the South-West’s stand out artists’
Daniel Pascoe - BBC Music Introducing in the South West
‘His music exudes a certain class. It’s a beautiful recording, done so well and it’s a really fantastic performance. It’s a genre that many people do but not everyone pulls off to this standard. It stood out to me as soon as I heard it’
Danielle Perry - Ollie Dixon selected as Self Releasing Artist of the Month (July 2023), Sunday Night Music Club on Absolute Radio
