Review of Desperate Journalist plus guests
It felt good to get out and see some live music on a sleety Friday night in Sheffield. Although tickets indicated doors open at 19.00 hrs the support band came on at 20.00 , which is alright if you are in a venue with space to move around and a bit of variety but a long time to wait in one dark and pretty non descriptive room. However when the bands got started things improved as the support Empty Page where great and almost outshone the headliners Desperate Journalists. The latter were I felt, let down by the venue's sound system which seemed to struggle with the demands of three loud guitars. That said, the audience were audably appreciative and the atmosphere very friendly.

The venue (Vinyl Junkies, Sheffield) is small. I would describe it as 'intimate' with the low stage that meant you could get right up close to the band if you wanted. The sound level was good, some feedback at times but I would put that down to the mixing desk. I think they left an unused Mic on.
Bought a diet c**e that came in a small bottle. I thought the price of £2 was a little steep.
The support were good and an excellent appetizer for Desperate Journalist. They are a great indie guitar band that were well received by the crowd. Good tunes and vocals.
Recommended.
