About

Opened in 1971 and refurbished in 1994, the Studio has a capacity of up to 400. Its flexible design allows the seating to be adjusted to play on one, two or three sides or in the round. Winner of the 2002 Peter Brook Empty Space Award, the Studio hosts a mix of small-scale in-house and touring productions, and is also home to the acclaimed tri-annual Music in the Round Festival. The Studio Theatre is located in the Crucible. It can be accessed through the main entrance to the Crucible on Tudor Square and can be found on the lower ground level. The Studio offers accessible seating for wheelchair users and it is fitted with an infra red hearing system. The Studio is the home of Music in the Round hosting the Spring and autumn series as well as the May Festival each year.
