The phrase ‘someone who needs no introduction’ is used all too readily these days, but for househeads worldwide it is truly fitting of Sally C.
We’ve wanted to make this one happen since we started Flock over 3 years ago, so we’re absolutely buzzing to be able to present to you the hip house queen herself.
You may catch Sally at Berlin’s Panorama Bar, any notable Ibiza super club, Glastonbury, Lost Village, Love International, Kala, Printworks, Warehouse Project, or Fabric. You almost certainly won’t see her in a 250 cap intimate venue in Sheffield before or after this one on March 14th.
Serving up vintage house, hip house, acid and breakbeat, Sally fits the flock sound to a tee. This is no coincidence, in fact she is one of a handful of DJs and producers that inspired it.
Joe Muggs writing for The Wire said it best; ‘everything in her tracks is straight from 1888-1992: she samples, chops and loops like Todd Terry, throws in piano riffs like the most shameless of Italians, makes bass tones that bring to mind early Murk, Gat Décor and Together’s “Hardcore Uproar”. And she does it all ‘with a sincerity that shines like a strobe light’.
Honing her craft in the early days at Dundee’s Reading Rooms, Sally is now a Berlin staple and head honcho of the excellent Big Saldo’s Chunkers label. Her 2019 boiler room set on home turf at Belfast’s AVA Festival cemented Sally at the top of her game and she has remained there ever since.
Standout productions include Let’s Get This, All Love, The Way To Do It, and Downtown which featured on TSHA’s ‘Fabric Presents’ compilation album alongside Uncle Knows’ track ‘Flock’, named after a certain Sheffield party. The Big Saldo’s remix of Fast Eddie’s Lets Do This was one of the tracks played during the first set of the first ever Flock in 2021. So join us on March 14th for a special full circle story and right proper rave up.
Let’s get this thing off the ground.
