About

Adam Scrimshire is a multi-instrumentalist, writer, producer and mix engineer based in South London.

He is perhaps best known for his work under the artist name Scrimshire, through which he has released seven solo albums.

His music has consistently had the support of BBC Radio DJs including Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum, Guy Garvey, Huey Morgan, Cerys Matthews, Tom Ravenscroft. In 2022 his album Nothing Feels Like Everything was nominated as an album of the year at the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards and he was featured in the Guardian as one of three of the UK’s most significant soul music producers alongside Swindle and Little Simz/Cleo Sol/Adele producer Inflo.

In recent years Adam has worked for artists including Daudi Matsiko, Mark de Clive-Lowe’s Rōnin Arkestra, Huw Marc Bennett, Bev Lee Harling and Stac and on records for a massively diverse list including; Killing Joke, Dele Sosimi, The Milk, Emma-Jean Thackray and more.

For over 10 years Scrimshire was a co-owner of the Wah Wah 45s record label and eight years ago founded his own Albert’s Favourites imprint which released its 16th album in 2023. He and the label have worked hard to champion artist’s rights and create the best possible working conditions and support for the musicians it represents.

Adam is also a prolific composer, using his remaining time to create 100s of songs each year for libraries internationally, including NinjaTune, Felt, Premium Beat and BAM.

“One of those super hardworking, super talented people. Just puts music out and just gets on with it.” — Gilles Peterson

“As a producer, he excels at creating albums packed with soulful guest stars and fresh takes on the genre.” — The Guardian

“One of the best producers in the UK” — Smoove & Turrell

Irini Arabatzi’s journey to making folk and jazz inspired contemporary pop in London is indirect but inspiring. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, it was after her family moved to Brussels, that 4-year-old Irini really discovered music.

Irini then travelled to Scotland to further her music education. At the Royal Conservatoire, she worked with the Euroradio Orchestra and Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. But her stay in Scotland also opened important new pathways, introducing her to the new wave of UK jazz. Recording with artists including Corto.Alto, Fractus Band and Fergus McCreadie started the important first steps towards her solo project.

In 2018, Irini came to London to complete her music education at Guildhall. Now,
surrounded and encouraged by a diverse and prolific musical community she incorporates all influences into her performing life, from jazz, to samba, to folk and beyond.
