HAWK GREEN CRICKET CLUB SET TO TAKE ON THE NATWEST ENGLAND LEGENDS

Hawk Green Cricket Club has added an exciting new date to their 2013 fixture list after winning the chance to play against The NatWest England Legends, led by former England captain, Michael Vaughan. Their NatWest Locals vs Legends T20 fundraising match will take place on Monday 19th August 2013.
Over 1600 cricket clubs across England and Wales rallied support from members, friends and their local community, to secure points on the NatWest Cricket Rewards website. The top 10 were invited to submit 200 words and Hawk Green Cricket Club scooped one of the three top prizes – the chance to host the ultimate fundraising T20 match – after an independent judging panel deemed them one of the most worthy clubs.

Preparing to lead his NatWest England Legends captain, Michael Vaughan said, “A massive congratulations to Hawk Green Cricket Club! I’m really looking forward to taking them on and I know that whilst these games might start nice and friendly, as soon as that coin is tossed it all changes, everyone wants to win! This year there is a slight twist to the ending, in that I’ll be picking three players from Hawk Green Cricket Club to join me in my NatWest Locals XI as we take on the other NatWest England Legends in a Series finale at Lord’s on September 5th. As a result I’m expecting the competition for me and my team to be tougher than ever as players look to prove themselves whilst helping to raise thousands of pounds for their club.”
For the club, hosting the game on their home turf will provide a great boost, providing them with the opportunity to get the local community involved and raise vital funds.

Hawk Green skipper, Murray Hill said “We may be a small club but we have a big passion for cricket! We are incredibly excited to take part in the NatWest Locals v Legends T20 Series and raise much needed funds for the club. Our pavilion was destroyed by fire in 2008 so this fundraising will go towards regenerating the club and providing equipment for our junior teams.”
