Live Comedy - Saturday 15th February

About

BARBARA NICE - Barbara Nice is the overenthusiastic housewife alter-ego of award-winning comedian Janice, who was discovered by legendary comedian Peter Kay, who asked her to play Holy Mary in Phoenix Nights. She has been compared to Victoria Wood, Mrs. Merton, and Julie Walters.
Having supported comedians Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay on tour in the past, Barbara Nice is a circuit headline act in her own right, as well as being one of the most experienced comperes in the country. She has also performed solo shows in Edinburgh, Brighton and Manchester.
In a smash hit audition, Barbara wowed the judges with her humour and eccentric style on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2019. Her audition was such a success, the judges gave Barbara their seal of approval and she went on to the semi-finals.
She has also appeared in Coronation Street, That Peter Kay Thing, Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, Thin Ice and Dead Man Weds. Her four-part series Barbara Nice was broadcast in March 2017 as part of BBC Radio 2’s Comedy Showcase.
In 2017 Janice was awarded a British Empire Medal in the New Years Honours list for services to community arts in the West Midlands.

JAMES SHERWOOD - James is an award winning musical comedian. Winner of Best International Show 2010, LA Theatre Review and Best Comedy Show 2010, Hollywood Fringe. As a writer he won a Sony Award in 2009 for The Now Show and has also written for The News Quiz, Newsjack and Look Away Now (BBC Radio 4). James recently created the new radio topical quiz show I Guess That’s Why They Call It The News for BBC Radio 4.

MARK SILCOX - Ex-scientist and part-time teacher, Silcox is known for his experimental, deadpan style of anti-humour.. If you were to meet him you would immediately realise that you were in the presence of a masterful academic, but someone who struggles with the subtleties of human connections and everyday life.

Mark made it to the finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards 2013 and was one of several Asian comedians to be featured on BBC’S, The Big Asian Stand-Up. He has also appeared on Romesh: Comedians in Pubs Talking Comedy on BBC Three, An Immigrants guide to Britain on Channel 4 and Sick of It alongside Karl Pilkington on Sky1, amongst others. Mark is mainly known for his starring role as Joe Lycett’s side kick on channel 4’s consumer rights comedy show, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back, with a clip of him challenging Burger King on their motto "Have it your way" going viral and prompting a response from Burger King themselves.

MC KATE MARTIN - At 6ft 1, with the longest wingspan in comedy (*probably), Kate’s a naturally engaging, energetic performer with effortlessly tight gags to match. Her unique background in mental health has given her a fresh take on the world, a completely distinctive voice, and fuels her high energy storytelling, whip-smart punchlines and razor-sharp observations of life's quirks through queer eyes.
