Review of Londoncore, the movie premiere.

I went to the premiere of Moleface's Londoncore movie last night expecting to have a great time. But I could not have anticipated how brilliant a night it was going to be. The venue (The Old Thatch Tavern in Stratford upon Avon) was cute, quirky and the bar staff were among the friendliest and most efficient I have ever encountered. Customer service was exemplary.

The hosts, Moleface and Freddie Perfect were meeting and greeting all night and the people they had invited were incredibly friendly. I didn't know many of them, but everyone I met for the first time was delightful company. Again, everyone attending was made to feel very special, right down to the red carpet we walked on to enter the première.

On to the film itself. It is clear that Moleface has a highly creative and talented team with whom he works. The movie is effectively a showcase for the Londoncore album, with short, scene-setting "Acts" before each track. I think it is fair to say that every track on the album is top-quality. While the performances were recorded (so not performed live) it didn't take long before those in the auditorium were enthusiastically clapping each number when it finished.

Rock and Roll is, by and large a serious business, but the Londoncore movie is peppered with sublime "laugh out loud" humour. Moleface and Freddie Perfect are clearly movie stars as well as rock stars. And Oliver "Scapetrace" proved that he is not only a talented movie-maker, but a pretty decent supporting actor too.

Those present in the audience were swept along by the action. There was a danger that some of the dialogue could have been lost due to the laughter of those present. And I know there was dialogue right at the end of the movie which I couldn't hear given the absolutely deserved standing ovation the film got as the credits rolled.

In short, it was one of the best Friday nights ever and I look forward to the online launch of the movie on Christmas Eve so I can hear the parts I missed due to the laughter, cheering and applause of a very appreciative audience.
