About

Rock Garden is situated on Swan Street which is one of Torquays oldest and most historic areas. Swan Street was established in modern form in the 18th Century and was home to one, if not the first schools in the village of Torquay. Torquay Village School was actually a large classroom above what was then, the Crown Inn. The street was once adjoined to what is now Abbey Road and linked straight to the inner harbor which during the 19th century helped see Torquay boom as an industrial area. Due to the numerous bars in the area it became frequented by ‘ladies of the night’.
