The Guinness Six Nations Championship is the premier rugby competition in Europe.
It brings together the national teams of England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, and Italy, with matches played on a home-and-away basis throughout February and March each year.
Prior to 2000, the tournament was known as the Five Nations Championship, with Italy being the most recent addition to the competition.
The tournament's origins date back to 1883, when England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland competed in the Home Nations Championship. Since expanding to six teams, only Scotland and Italy have yet to win the title, though Scotland did secure victory in the final Five Nations Championship before Italy joined.
