I attended as a long-term fan of Miriam, had not come across Steepways before but thoroughly enjoyed their performance, spoke to Charlie and Blair afterwards and said they had definitely won me over, they have a gig coming up at the end of april which I'll be aiming to get to.
Miriam had indicated beforehand that she would be trying out new material, always good to hear and listen to new songs.......listen being the operative word as I struggled to pay attention at times, due to the incessant chatter from people at the bar and the back of the room who clearly weren't interested in the music being played. Unforttunately this was evident during both act's performances. Some of us attend gigs because we actually want to listen to live music, those who would rather have a drink and a natter with mates should find a pub instead. Now of course I appreciate that some people are only there to see one of the acts, and have no problem with quiet conversation during the act they're not intereted in as long as it doesn't impact on those of us who, as I said, actually want to listen to and hopefully appreciate the performance. A good enough evening in terms of the music, but not in terms of the atmosphere I'm afraid.
