Review of Oktoberfest at Walton Hall & Gardens - SATURDAY 5th OCTOBER
The venue was amazing and the staff were all really great. The extra support 'acts' featured, such as the Oktoberfest girls on stilts and the waitresses selling shots in the fantastic Oktoberfest outfits looked stunning.
Also, the DJ was great. He got everyone going with great tunes.
However, I would like to point out a couple of things that were absent from the evening which would have been a great improvement. (We have been to many Oktoberfest events which usually have these).
- An Oktoberfest pretzel already on the table for each guest (Som**hing to nibble on whilst drinking the first drink(s). Other events we have been to had this but these had to be purchased at this event's organised food retailers
- A compere for the evening. Either a member of the band or someone else. Whilst the band were very good, the lack of a compere meant that the vibe suddenly changed from the DJ set to the Oktoberfest band. Other events we have been to have had the compere introduce the band, chat to the audience before introducing each song and have been more involved with getting the audience singing (and swaying) to the drinking song.
- Audience participation. Again, related to the above. Other events we have attended had audience participation organised by the compare. Chats with the audience, volunteers for some games etc. Really gets a good laugh.
Another thing was that there was a small issue with the glass / token setup. A group of us attended and when we went to get our first drink, some of us received tokens when paying the deposit but 3 of us didn't. It was a bit awkward at the end of the night as a couple of members of staff weren't going to refund for the glass even though we genuinely didn't have a token. Eventually, a supervisor approved but maybe there is a better way of organising the glass as it was a busy night and the bar staff may have forgotten to give tokens to other guests.
Other than that, it was a very enjoyable night although it could be much better next time.

Great night not quite the German atmosphere but good all the same . Not enough catering on site 40 minute wait for a sausage could have been better

Review of Walton Hall And Gardens Warrington
Fantastic venue and very well organised in general. It was let down by the band who, although very talented, didn't have a proper frontman who led people in songs, dances, etc. That's the minimum I would expect from an Oktoberfest. Hopefully it will be different next year and they let people know there'll be a proper band in advance, otherwise we'll be going to a different venue.

Venue was half empty, freezing cold, one food vendor so little choice, security staff wouldn't allow us to go out and come back in so I could go and get my coat so we left

Great fun, could do with more food choices /hot drinks. Live band is great but was expecting more 'beer hall' type of music less contemporary music. Brilliant venue and a great afternoon ?'?

There was nothing German about the evening at all,other than a bit of fancy dress and a stein. There was no waitress service as you would expect from this sort of thing,and the food was a burger van at the back of the venue. I think that we have just been spoilt after experiencing the real thing. The beer prices were better than expected overall disappointing
