I think this had a lot of potential, and with a few amendments for future years,  could be much better. My recommendations would be:

- Open all the windows up at the top if it's a warm day 
- Have all staff in costume to create some atmosphere. We loved the re-enacter on the door who was really passionate about history. He would have made a great compere (see below). All staff were friendly however - thank you!
- Drinks: Tankards for drinks would have added a little extra, cold drinks or ice on a hot day are necessary, and a bar service rather than a slow drinks service would have been great. 
- Smaller centrepieces so you can see other people (we ended up moving ours off the table)
- A compere to give some history to the food / create some atmosphere (The food was very tasty!)
- Whilst the musician put in some hard graft and was really talented, sadly couldn't hear him unless right next to the table - consider background music on speakers and a live music section? 
- Entertainment: Jesters or some entertainment between courses would have been welcome, I had expected with a 4 hour event for there to be some dancing, mingling, or other entertainment rather than just a 4 hour dinner - we did end up leaving early when it was clear that wasn't the case.

Review of Worcester Medieval Banquet

An enjoyable evening with around half of attendees wearing costumes. A few minor issues which I put down to it being the first time this event was run. I would definitely go again 😊

Needed someone as a bit of a compere and music amplified  as couldn't hear music and  perhaps add some minstrels or jesters  Service a bit slow. Had potential for fabulous night as venue is to die for but small details let it down eg no salt and pepper on table

Charged top whack and the food was laughably poor. Arrived to sticky tables and they put stuff on the tables which formed a barrier with the person you went with. They should have done a hog roast or something spectacular for the amount of money they charged.

Felt the evening would have been enhanced by some explanation of the dishes and the music from the lute player could only be heard when he was stood by us

No atmosphere at all - no medieval anything only the people to brought costumes . Definitely wouldn't recommend it - Coombe Abbey is what you call Medieval night

Excellent venue. Food properly cooked and served hot but service slow as not enough staff. Apart from a lute player there was zero entertainment, no music or dancing as it was just a meal in an interesting venue. Could've done with a jester to entertain us during the long wait for food and some music and audience participation dancing at the end. The slow service and lack of entertainment meant it dragged out leaving many weary by the end. We left early.
