we have been going to the Castle Howard Proms for many years and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. 2021 had torrential rain, but we stayed the course and had one of the best concerts ever. Fabulous music set, atmosphere was wonderful. Forward to 2022 and all changed. The new field had absolutely no atmosphere, the music choice was dreadful as was the sound quality, even the VIPs complaining. Ms Wallace had a beautiful voice but so many show tunes and nothing remotely uplifting! I totally understand no fireworks given the tinder dry conditions but even the flypast was muted. I kept waiting for it to all to get going, but it never did, unlike the hoardes of early leavers. Very very disappointing.



Review of Castle Howard Proms 2022

We have been going to the Castle Howard Proms for many years and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. 2021 had torrential rain, but we stayed the course and had one of the best concerts ever. Disappointed, the venue wasn’t very good and missed the magic of normally being by the lake. The spitfire was brilliant and the orchestra didn’t flow. The night didn’t flow, the opening acts where ok but what didn’t match the proms theme. We ended up leaving after the first half 

It’s a shame the magic of the lakeside view was gone. Overpriced for a show in a the middle of a field. 

Why weren't the proms where they normally are.dreadful venue.couldnt see castle howard.the rock choir.fair enough,but just singing Whitney Houston etc.whats that to do with the proms?then  before they finished ,loads of their fellow warblers jumped up and stripped down to reveal their rock choir t shirts and nobody else could see the stage for them at the front.the spitfire and orchestra ,spirltfire brilliant but we missed a lot for where the concert was and all the trees at either side.the orchestra had not coordinate d well with the spitfire and the woman singer came on to sing as the spitfire was still flying close by.oh dear.we left at the end of the first half as the choice of music  was not as good as I've heard before and we've been going for 15 years.not any more.a complete waste of money!
