About

Freschard & Stanley Brinks are the missing link - and they’re coming to Queens Bar & Coffee House in Bridlington on Saturday 27th July!

Stanley Brinks was born in Paris, France in 1973. Half Swedish & half Moroccan, he studied biology & worked as a nurse before the urge to travel the world took over. Spending time in New York, he took on the name André Herman Düne & began performing alongside his brother David with the band Herman Düne in the late 90’s. After several albums, Perl’s sessions & touring with the likes of Jeffery Lewis & early Arcade Fire, Herman Düne ended in 2006 & he took on the moniker of Stanley Brinks. Since then, he’s recorded more than 100 albums, collaborated with the New York antifolk scene on several occasions worked a lot with the band the Wave Pictures, as well as Freschard.

Freschard grew up in a farm in French Burgundy. Aged 12, she stared putting on shows in the farms barn. At 18 she moved to Paris, where she baked pies and cakes in a cafe. It was here she met songwriter & regular customer Andre Herman Düne (Stanley Brinks) who wrote her a few songs to sing. After spending time homeless in Paris she managed to save up enough money to to get herself a ticket to New York, where she found an old electric guitar & started writing songs of her own. In 2004 she moved to Berlin & released her first LP. She released her second in 2006, featuring guitar from Stanley Brinks. Since then, she’s played everything from drums, flute & the washboard on her albums & has written, recorded & toured extensively with Stanley Brinks.

Support on the night comes from Don’t Fret The Moose - a special set from local songwriters Don’t Fret The Poet & Sproose Moose, who’ll be joining forces to bring you a mix of songs from each others back catalogue in a stripped back fashion.
