For those unfamiliar with the club, kyo exudes mystery and glamour with only a simple door by the entrance of the Keck Seng Tower building announcing its presence. Stroll down a flight of stairs to the basement, and you’ll find yourself immersed in the space, with art, music, and drinks all on offer. Tagged around the word ‘escapism’, Director of kyo, Godwin Pereira comments, “The design of kyo was led by the direction strip everything down and build a space where you cannot define where you are”.

kyo has been instrumental in the resurgence of Singapore’s house and techno music scene and has hosited its distinctive edgier sounds into the musical stratopshere the last two years. The disclipined music direction reflects the spirit and attitudes of kyo, the dance club. It has shaped the musical expectations and standards of a club night, with an itinerary of emerging artists as well as international guests, who share kyo’s vision.

Despite its indie sensibilities, kyo is nevertheless poised and tasteful in its approach as an intimate dance club. Located at Keck Seng Tower, its nondescript door opens up to a flight of stairs to its elusive basement. In this space, its body of work of street and contemporary art speak of kyo’s disposition.
