Highest Point Festival comes to Lancaster’s Williamson Park on Friday 10th May, which is just over two weeks away!
To celebrate one of the first festivals of the year (which marks the beginning of festival season), we’ve done a Highest Point special of Essential Listening to introduce you to some of the many artists from pop, indie, disco, house, DnB, and reggae who’ll be performing at this year’s bash.
Among those on this year’s lineup are Tom Odell, Busted, Yousef, Caity Baser, Gok Wan, Sam Ryder, The Cuban Brothers, LOWES, and more. Now let’s take a look at some of the bangers we can expect to hear in the park very soon…
Highest Point Official Playlist
Year 3000 - Busted
Bursting on the scene with pop-punk energy (emphasis on pop), Busted, who released some huge tracks like ‘What I Go To School For’, ‘Air Hostess’, and ‘Crashed The Wedding’, were praised for creating a change in the music scene, ushering in pop rock at a time dancing boy bands ruled the charts.
But even with all their hits, it’s their track ‘Year 3000’ that many music fans associate with the trio. From that iconic keyboard intro to Simpson and Bourne sharing vocals to the lyrics in general and of course that music video, it’s nothing short of legendary.
Bringing their bangers to Highest Point Festival in May, the lads have promised an all-killer no-filler set, ensuring the crowd hear all their biggest hits. Check out our interview with Busted on their upcoming Highest Point set.
Another - Sarah Story
DJ/producer Sarah Story, who recently announced her new record label and event series, brings dance and house to Highest Point, and we’re hoping she plays her banger ‘Another’.
Thumping and hypnotic, the track is a certified club belter that wakes listeners up with a driving kick drum and chopped-up vocal samples before an otherworldly, ethereal, and slightly trippy piano line comes in. At this point, the “god, I love live music” feelings will most definitely be flooding over us at the fest.
Run (Part 1) - Mozey ft. Sofia
Mozey, prince of DnB, comes to Highest Point, bringing jump-up bangers to the Memorial stage
‘Run (Part 1)’, one of the four Mozey tracks in the playlist because, yes, he’s just that good, starts off slowly before catapulting the listener with an adrenaline-pumping, fist-bumping build-up. Then, dropping into pure madness, the track hits its peak in pure chaos. Sofia’s soft and sweet vocals sit on top of the wild instrumental, creating an addicting juxtaposition.
Sure to be a crowd favourite at this year’s fest, we bet the Memorial will be packed out for Mozey's set.
go - Cat Burns
Coming through with silky smooth, rich vocals, Cat Burns brings her flavour of pop sprinkled with gospel and indie influences to Williamson Park on the second weekend of May.
Despite the fact her debut album hasn’t come out yet, Burns has over 5.5 million monthly Spotify listeners. Her track ‘go’ is a huge factor in her incredible success so far, having shot to number 2 in the UK charts, with Harry Styles in the number 1 position.
‘go’ is a real tear-jerker, emotionally but articulately telling the story of being cheated on. A little James Bay-like with the soft guitars, Burns delivers a passionate performance in her London accent.
