Quality mixes came through thick and fast for us in 2015. We got our hands on some great guest ones for the podcast, we launched our Skiddle Live series and we stocked our Mixcloud up with some solid sessions from some of our favourite house, techno and bass artists.
With the end of the year drawing closer and some new projects lined up for 2016 (read all about our new Weekends Matter podcast with Charlie Hedges), we've selected some of our favourite mixes from the past 12 months. Check out all of our mixes over on the Skiddle Mixcloud page.
Skiddle Mix 063 - Frankee (RAM Records) by Skiddle on Mixcloud
RAM Records key player Frankee offered up this hour long, blistering drum n bass mix in March. It was a quick firing, whirlwind of his own productions, plus major tracks from the likes of Andy C and Bad Company. It's one of our most listened to mixes ever, and it's not hard to fathom why.
Skiddle Live 001 - Late Nite Tuff Guy @ Discoteca Poca by Skiddle on Mixcloud
We decided we didn't want our mixes to be all about the build up, we wanted you to experience the party as it happened on the night - that's where the Skiddle Live mix series came into play.
We launched it with a live recording of Late Nite Tuff Guy at Discoteca Poca's night at Constellations in Liverpool. It's filled with edits and classics, and you can imagine the crowd reactions as he brought the room to life with tunes like 'Do U Wanna Get Down' and 'Do I Believe In God'.
Weekends Matter September 2015 - Guest Mix Sam Divine B2B Simon Dunmore by Skiddle on Mixcloud
The guest mix for the September podcast was filled with jackin' house and vocal goodness from the label's boss and their cherished resident DJ Sam Divine. Defected's year has seen them conquer Ibiza, with them taking over Amnesia and then Space for Glitterbox, whilst releasing quality compilation after quality compilation.
Skiddle Live 005 – Dave Seaman @ Cream Nation Grand Finale by Skiddle on Mixcloud
Every set at the Cream Finale was poignant, because it was the last time the majority of these Cream staples would play in the confines of Nation before it's knocked down for good. Attendees were crying out for the recordings from the night, and we were fortunate enough to be given Dave Seaman's landmark set, filled with new and defining tracks.
Skiddle Mix 075 - SEFF (VIVa MUSiC/Hot Creations) by Skiddle on Mixcloud
SEFF burst onto the underground scene earlier this year with his track 'Like That' on Hot Creations, his career quickly ascended and he was snapped onto VIVa and landed gigs in Ibiza and on the festival circuit. His mix for us was a rolling hour of funky tech-house, perfectly executed. It's the ideal pre-rave mix.
