After our promoter focus article last week gave glowing recognition to Manchester’s seminal promoters Now Wave, we get ready to witness the forthcoming arrival of an artist that sums up everything that makes the Manchester based party starters one of the best in their field.
Heralding from Sydney comes what promises to be one of the most hotly anticipated up and coming artists in the world - Flume. There’s a good chance you’ve not heard of him yet, but sufficed to say he is a producer that has already caused serious waves in his home country and looks destined to repeat the trick across the rest of the world.
Flume fell in love with producing at the young age of 13, with a music program that came with a box of cereal. It started his obsession with beatmaking, samples and music hardware that was continue with him until today.
Listen: Flume Feat. Jezzabell Doran - Sleepless
Developing a signature sound which that combines sidechained beat trickery, lush string arrangements and pitched up vocal samples, Flume sound has been likened to such electronic vanguards as Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, Space Dimension Controller and Seekae amongst others, whilst remaining uniquely his.
His skill at injecting a heavy amount of soul and feeling into complex and yet accessible production techniques - Flume has managed to create music that is both intelligent and slightly challenging whilst hit a mainstream audience, a feat very rarely achieved.
Now notorious for his live shows, his touring schedule has seen him sell out 2 national Australian tours, as well as appear at all the biggest festivals thrown in his home country. His prolific production continues to pick up the pace as well, as his rich vein of form seems like it has just come into its own.
This is your chance to catch Flume on the cusp of making it big in this country, in this, his Manchester debut.
