Skiddle Mix 011 - Ginny Koppenhol (LIVE from the Wickerman festival)

It may have come to your attention, but last week we went to a festival. The Wickerman to be precise. Our love affair with the Scottish Festival runs extremely deep and we’ve been involved in putting on a tent at the festival for noine years now, and this year we took Greg Wilson, Kissy Sell Out and a few others up to the highlands.

We went old school as well and took fifteen C90 cassettes and a rustic tape deck and recorded a few of the DJs rocking the joint. We’re going to release two of these mixes today to celebrate the fact our hangover has (finally) gone, and the first is from former Skiddle Basscamp competition winner Ginny Koppenhol. The second is due later, and may or may not include a DJ who’s already been on the Mixcloud series…

Hi Ginny! You played the Wickerman for us; how was it?

It was great as always! This is my fourth time playing for Skiddle at the festival and I love it every year - definitely one of my favourite festivals. The crowd always appreciate the tunes and get straight into the festival spirit. I particularly love playing for Skiddle because I won your DJ competition back in 2010 where I played at the Wickerman in the final. I have been asked back each year which is fantastic. The massive lips in front of the DJ booth this year were awesome too!

And this is the set you played?

It is indeed. I love playing festivals, because I can play all my fun crowd-pleasing tunes and just have a laugh with it, including plenty of samples that people recognise. I got a great response to it at the time so hopefully people will enjoy listening back to it (or for the first time if they didn't make it of course).

Have you played any other festivals this summer, or more to come?

It's been a very quiet year for festivals this year compared to the last two. This has been out of choice as I have had a lot going on recently. I have definitely missed going to lots of festivals this year, but this made Wickerman all the more special.
