February 14th can be a lonely and frustrating time for single people - but why the hell should it be? Here are just a few ways to embrace your singledom this Valentine's Day.

Think about it. What are all your loved up friends doing this Valentine's Day? Seeing their other halves, of course. It's safe to assume that anyone with a significant other will be spending Valentine's Day as a couple. Which means that if you head out to the pub or a club on Valentine's night, it'll be swarming with fellow singletons. Don't sit there telling yourself that the guy or girl you're drooling over is already spoken for - just be bold and go over there. Chances are they're single and ready to mingle, just like you. Check out our UK what's on guide for loads of non-romantic Valentine's Day events in your area.
Imagine that you're in a relationship. Now think about how much money you would end up spending on your partner on Valentine's Day. Now take that money, go to your favourite shop, and buy yourself something awesome.
You don't have to be in a relationship to indulge in a little Valentine's Day excitement. This is the only day of the year where you can send an anonymous card to your office crush and be considered cute rather than creepy. Do it. You never know what might happen.
We've all been there. Trapped in a bad relationship that's well past its sell by date, sitting bored in a restaurant on Valentine's Day and wishing we were somewhere else. Well, now you are. For a reminder of why you decided to be single, just wander past some restaurant windows on February 14th and spot the joyless couples having not-a-lot of fun. Then remember how good it feels to be free, do a little dance, and be on your way.
See all that delicious yet overpriced heart-shaped chocolate clogging up the shelves in your local supermarket? Thankfully you don't need to waste your money on it. UNTIL February 15th that is, when all the Valentine's choccy is half price, and you can swoop on your local shop like the opportunistic chocolate fiend that you are.
Make yourself seem desirable and alluring in front of your work colleagues and your office crush by posting a Valentine's card to yourself. It's VERY important that nobody ever finds out that you did this though, ok?
For those singletons who are looking for love, Valentine's Day can be a cruel kick in the teeth. Don't let it be. Concentrate on yourself, your friends, and all the things that make you happy in life. And remember that, above all, it's just another day.
