Review of PURR - Halloween Pole Showcase
Being at the launch of PURR with my friends was such an honour and getting to go again this Halloween was incredibly fun! The performers are all mind-blowingly talented and Sabrina Jade is a brilliant host who's great at keeping enthusiasm in the crowd alive. It's a really nice, inclusive safe space where everyone just comes to appreciate some talented pole dancers.

Review of New Love - Alternative Dating Night, Spring Fling
Another fantastic evening at New Love! I met my ex at this event in 2018 and although we split recently we stay friends because it was the most healthy and loving relationship I've been in so far! I knew exactly where to go now I feel ready for dating again!

Review of New Love - Alternative Dating Night, Spring Fling
Ultimately the evening means different things to different people. I've seen, read some really great reviews to completely damming reviews. I believe the interpretation, beliefs and values do differ from those attending and you could argue that's the case wherever you are, however counter-argument would be 'what is the event', 'what is it for' etc. Personally I find the people that attend have always been approachable, friendly, non-judgemental and the vibe is more authentic, open-minded and 'alternative.' It's enjoyable as a result and I have met some lovely people - people I arguably would not have met otherwise elsewhere. The venue isn't huge (not all of the Ironworks is used) but very well placed centrally and few mins walk from the mainline station. It's modern, pleasant enough but it's the people that make the event as much as the diverse activities.

Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - It's Our Birthday
I had another great experience at New Love. As is often the case I was unsure of going out but very glad I did. Once again it felt like a safe space to be in (I'm trans, queer, and neurodivergent as well). I didn't feel pressure to be a particular way, I think it's also important to note that the ice breaker part is good for some people, not so much for others, and it's absolutely fine to not do it. I feel like mostly I can socialise as much as I feel comfortable with, and people can chat 'organically' and comfortably.

Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - (Not A) Kids Party
Met some lovely new people making new contacts. Friendly vibe of acceptance, diversity & inclusion. The people make the event what it is as much as the efforts that are put into the activities themselves. Ideal venue in the City centre & easy few mins walk of mainline station.

Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - (Not A) Kids Party
Promotion for this event emphasised that it was a different experience from other dating nights, but really it's just a bunch of strangers standing around in a bar chatting. There was a quick ice breaker where you'd chat to maybe half a dozen random people but no attempt is made to match people up by preferences, so this stage probably won't cause you to bump into anyone you might need interested in except by sheer luck. After that everyone just hangs around the bar and it's up to you to approach anyone you might be interested in. Just like you would at any bar or nightclub.
I was disappointed, left early when my voice started to go from shouting at people for a couple of hours, and won't be back.
It would be fine if you're the kind of person who's normally up for approaching strangers at a bar. I got the impression from the advertising that it was different and a bit friendlier than that, so it may be my fault for going into it with the wrong expectations.
