Review of Legends of Roots Reggae: The Abyssinians & Big Youth
great night, but please promoters do not advise that the bands were coming on at 10pm, it was very much later 12.30/1 pm, several friends had to leave before the Abyssinians came on. By the time Big Youth finished it was nearly 3 am

Best gig I've been to all year, definitely going to make an effort to catch them on the next UK tour too.
Good venue, trusting audience with glasses and bottles meaning no dropped rubbish to trip on/plastic waste. Good crowd and very pleased there wasn't an opener delaying things as traveled to the gig on a work night!

Review of Legends of Roots Reggae: The Abyssinians & Big Youth
Both Artists were legend & amazing, loved the show, only fault was rain/water dripping down from the roof at the venue onto our heads where we stood near the stage so had to move as was getting wet

Review of Sungazer | Bristol
Great music, nice place, served us in glasses! I've drunk out of plastic cups at gigs for the last however long, nice to be trusted to drink out of a nicer vessel. For music this good you're not going to find a better price many places.
If a band you want to watch schedules a gig at Lost Horizon go for it; and if you have a chance to see Sungazer then definitely find a way to.

Review of Sungazer | Bristol
Never been to Lost Horizon before but this won’t be the last. A simple venue with all the ingredients for a banger of a night.
The Venue…
What was essentially a shed has been decked out with classic Bristol rave vibes. The whole space has been painted with vibrant colours with some well chosen artwork including some crazy community themed wall hangings.
The lighting rig is modest but effective adding to that underground free party feel. It’s like the coolest hidden spot you stumble across at glastonbury festival when the headliners have all finished but you’re not yet ready to retire to the camp.
The sound was on point. This was partially down to the touring engineer who nailed the mix but also the correct rig for the size of room.
The bar…
Again, the right size for the job. Not so big it intruded on the space but not so small you have to queue up for ages. The staff were all friendly and efficient. They had a great range of drinks available at very reasonable prices (gotta be a can of red stripe at a Bristol gig. It’s kind of become a tradition). They had at least 2 maybe 3 working card machines so the queue never built up waiting to pay.
The Band…
Well, I first discovered Sungazer, like many other musician types, through the bassists popular music theory based YouTube channel. I was promised progressive neo-funk jazz littered with odd meters, tuplets, wild extended raucous jam sections and plenty of bass solos. They certainly delivered!
Clad in matching tracksuits that can only be described as blue and white modular synth camo print, they emerged onto the stage to space like drone. Four silhouette’s agains the pink backdrop on the small but perfect stage. After a moment of stillness they erupted into their beautifully hectic, irregular groove lead chaos and the crowd responded with with an almost tribal roar and the night was off to a flying start. The show had a real journey with all the twists and turns you’d expect when 4 very accomplished musical virtuosos band together to explore the very edge of the sonic universe. Lightening speed riffs as fingers danced around they keys and fretboard like a video of a vintage typewriter stuck on fast forward. The sax player was clearly living every note oozing passion and emotion from start to finish. The drums were precise yet playful and his face was a window revealing the obvious pure joy he was feeling with every beat.
The whole show was punctuated by Adam’s natural comedy as he worked the crowd.
Stand out moments included the group hi fives celebrating successful completion of some choreographed moves in one song and the second ever performance of a brand new tune.
Highly recommended.

Absolutely excellent gig, really enjoyed it. Grooves were solid as!
Would have liked a support act for the ticket price, but I guess that's a sign of the times, and it's more important that acts get paid fairly. Plus not dealing with TicketBastard is worth it's weight

Loved it! Drinks a bit overpriced but that's the case for everywhere that isn't spoons these days ain't it?
Sungazer are amazing! For such a synthy band they come across really well live, too!!
