Programming was questionable. Ocean Colour Scene sounded amazing but zero stage presence. Libertines were an embarrassment- whose idea was that? They are well-known for being shocking live and lived up to that rep. Meanwhile- lottery winners were brilliant even though I donât love their music, they are brilliant to see. Dub Pistols, Undertones, Futureheads all tucked away on that terrible stage with the bar blocking the entrance from main arena. Kids area brill but as a parent, you want a kids area in sight of main stage so you donât miss anything while kids are entertained. How about in sketchy beats tent which is too loud near main stage anyway. Sketchy Beats is lovely - put it where Solway Bar stage is or maybe where Drystone is? Nice chilled area for art too. Melodrome lovely as per. People smoking in tents is ð¤¢ð¤¢ð¤¢ Wasnât sure about Hive set up at first but was excellent. Put live in family in Day Parking - quieter and nearer arena - and day parking where quiet camping was. Then quiet camping on live in family bit. Trolley Hire for the win. Superb festival, wouldnât miss it and live a solid 4 hour drive away. But please if you can manage it, no more bloated dad rock headliners even though Iâm huge fan of libertines and OCS. An Danssa Dub were ace. Bit sad to see Sunday pm ceidlidh moved - that was always a good bit of bringing everyone together which is the best spirit of the festival

Review of Solfest 2023
I've been many times before and it just wasn't the same. The drinks were rubbish and cider ran out before 4.30 on the Saturday. I was being served medium sized glass of Aldi wine 175ml but charged £8 for a large!! The food was extortionate. There was no effort to keep costs down. The posh showers weren't working Saturday morning and I wasted 2 hours of my morning waiting for them. Dry stone stage set up was not as good at it used to be and there wasn't a good range of music. Family camping lacked water points and was on a steep hill.
Positives were: The Undertones, Ocean colour scene and The lottery Winners. Gave up waiting on the Libertines and they sounded poor when they finally started. Some areas were set up well, the healing area and some of the dance areas were good. The welfare tent was a gem!
Probably won't come again. Which is as shame, as I've been coming since 2007, with a few years off around 2016. I was excited to be back but it did not live up to expectations.

Music , especially Lottery Winners, Ferocious Dog and Vacant Weekend were amazing. Ocean Colour were lack
Lustre at best. They were the worst headline set ever. Of my god itâs the church weâre awesome.. loved them., they were a great start. Loved the melodrama stage and itâs act .. really good fun and the Hive area was excellent! Great venue a a general set up. And mostly litter free., which was good to see. Water refill point could be made more obvious inside the arena. If they were they, they werenât obvious.

Those campsites! you didnât open until 9am and even then the man who fired them up and the man who unlocked the doors couldnât coordinate to arrive together so no showers on Saturday!! I managed one all weekend.. more showers please in more places on site and open all the time do we donât have the door unlocking fiasco!! Please put a set in each field.. less fancy but reliable is fine . This is my fifth festival this year and never paid extra for showers .. particularly when I canât use them. Iâd rather go without than paid £49 for one shower⦠thatâs a hell of a wash!!

Prices where to high, plus the searching people was not good! We were crammed in, Live in no awning, where people were putting up awnings, inadequate spacing for emergency vehicles. As well as being a massive fire hazard !
Good festival spoilt by prices and lack of safety !
