Review of Solfest 2017
Fantastic family event lots of fun....but WHY NO FAMILY CAMPING???? That ruined some peoples experience, and certainly dinted ours. WOuld only come back if we knew the was definitely family camping- it's not fair on families or the party animals who get woken up at 7am by noisy kids....

Review of Solfest 2017
We have been to Solfest several times and love the non commercial, relaxing, friendly atmosphere it has. The general ska, reggae, folk and punk music very much suits our tastes.
A few of the stewards didn't seem aware of the different camp sites when we arrived so as a result we (a couple) were surrounded by families with very young children and noisy teenagers. This hasn't happened before so was a shame but by no means spoilt our weekend. The toilets unfortunately didn't seem as well maintained this year, they're normally outstanding for a festival.
Our highlight was definitely Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5, you can't see them and not leave without a smile.
Thanks again Solfest for another good festival.

Review of Solfest 2017
Absolutely brilliant!! Friendly, arty, fun, inspiring and just absolutely great festival.
Second year we have been, and thoroughly enjoyed it again! Melodrome is a great little stage with lots of close and intimate acts, could not fault it. And the Drystone stage is my second favourite. You could go to any stage and enjoy any of the music. There where great stalls (especially food!) and some great little activities and interactive art around. Literally could not speak more highly of the entire festival. Camping was great and everyone respectful, no worries like at bigger festivals. AMAZING!!
Review of Solfest 2017
Been going to Solfest since 2011 and can see a decline in standards. Where once we had plenty of toilets provided and a fab team who cleaned them twice a day to hardly any blocks with no toilet paper and no handgel plus the loss of the hay bails to urinals we could see directly into, I was shocked. The lack of family camping was a massive disappointment and would love to go back to a completely split site or even Tarn side if possible. It spoiled the enjoyment of families and revellers as they clashed on site. The only excellent musical performance at Drystone was Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5 as the rest was far too left wing. The bar stage was too loud on the bass speakers leaving only the Melodrome stage holding the last of the Solfest spirit and originality. Paying for the activities has made it not family friendly along with more vandalism than we've ever seen before. Child also commented many of the stalls/shops have disappeared also leaving hardly any variety plus the Teapot tent not returning felt awful. Thank goodness for Bean on the Scene otherwise we'd have never got through the weekend. Many others surrounding us went home early.

Review of Solfest 2017
Been coming to Solfest since year 2 and the emphasis has shifted. The great eclectic mix of music it used to have - amateur and professional, rock, punk, reggae, world, folk, new, old, kids starting out etc. - that we loved has been lost. Too much Dub and heavy stuff and loud punky stuff. Too much prerecorded DJ style stuff and not enough live. Its lost the feel that it is a festival for music makers as well as music lovers. Indoor venues were all massively too loud. Shame its almost completely lost any folk or acoustic stuff. Big exception was the Melodrome stage where you could still get that old Solfest vibe. On the plus side camping was good, its safe and friendly, Cider goes down a treat, Martha Hill, Dansi, Beans On Toast all excellent, young performers and Bush dancing at Melodrome great. Be great to see more attention to the music next year and a return to a more mixed programme with more acoustic stuff and places for people to jam. Also a better printed programme with more information. You used to put in a bit about everyone. We really missed this. Made it much harder to chose what to listen to. It doesn't need to be glossy but it did need more content. All in all the message is please can we have indoor stuff that isn't ear shattering and MORE LIVE MUSIC PLEASE!!!!!
Review of Solfest 2017
Great family friendly festival with lots for everyone to do. Kids area was fantastic with the best sandpit ever & even had its own mini cinema to keep everyone entertained. Site was bright & colourful & had lots of interesting venues all decorated to a high standard. Good range of reasonably priced food venders for all tastes, we had an amazing veggie Sunday roast with all the trimmings, glass of wine with mood lighting in one of the "cafes" for £7:50!
Was a fantastic atmosphere this year, everyone said how friendly & relaxed it felt !
Roll on 2018 😊

Review of Solfest 2017
My daughter's and I loved solfest! However, we we're told that camping was "all together" so we found a good pitch and camped. Turns out we we're in noisy camping! Didn't ruin our experience, sleep would have been nice though.

Review of Solfest 2017
Lovely venue, nice event but not too good a line-up this year. Seems to be getting worse each year.... also didn't seem as busy as previous years (I have been to every Solfest from the very first year).

Review of Solfest 2017
I WOULD NOT GO TO THIS FESTIVAL AGAIN, THERE WAS SOME GOOD MUSIC AND A LOT OF BAD MUSIC, IN ONE OF THE TENTS THERE WAS NO SMOKING SIGNS ALL OVER BUT FAR TO MANY PEOPLE IGNORED THE SIGNS SMOKING W**D ECT WHEN THERE WAS CHILDREN SOME ONLY TODLERS AT THE SIDE OF THEM DRIVING THE PEOPLE WHO HAD KIDS WITH THEM FROM THE TENT, I AM NOT A PRUDE BUT THIS IS DISREPTFUL BEHAVIOR.

Mind bendingly spectacular, no where else quite like Solfest can you ooze through a heaving mass of high energy, star struck and beautiful smiling faces so utterly encompassing in their love that it makes every inch of your body tingle. Biggest of respect to every MC, DJ and dirty dub wizard keeping the chunes filthy from Friday to the depths of Monday morning. JamBeater sound system you've been the wind in my sails from start to finish, big love to the Reggae tent, to the Unity Sessions crew, to Loungevity for delighting the eyeballs and resting my aching a**e muscles on a cornucopia of luscious seatery. And to the tutu toting mega babe who mangled the mind with dutty whispers of galactic cannibalism before slapping a Knob Head sticker on me tatas; f**k me what an experience. Count me seduced Madame, I'd happy take on an entire squadron of space age nasties Jim Kirk style to defend thy divine honor. To Pancake Man and the dutch pancake fam you beautiful Mauri warrior looking motherflipper, bless you for the Sunday boost of syrup and the double serving. We absolutely owe you more coin for the mind body and soul rejuvenation, you are incredible folks. To every deep and dirty skanker dominating the speakers all day and night, it's been a pleasure as always bouncing and weaving alongside to the most rotten of riddims. I've been deaf as a post and blind as a bat so if I missed any interaction with you beautiful souls know the love is still there and ever flowin', I'm just ever hungry for bass and easily distracted by the beats like a magpie and a silver bouillon spoon. To the Yes Kru and Tom Buckle you funky ball of tits from the infinite cosmos, to Rudonk Bash, Ste Hoole, Kel Dale and me lal Louie; bless up yaselves. A f**king pleasure as always and a truly twisted weekend, much needed heart reboot after a manky year. All my love int' universe truly, thank you once again Solfest for being what you are. Wouldn't change one bit.
