Review of Guns 2 Roses & Nirvanah - DERBY | Hairy Dog
Guns 2 roses were brilliant and put on an amazing set, a shame nirvanah didn't show up tho. They were who I'd wanted to see more. Good night had tho regardless.

Review of BANG featuring 28 Double, Vanitas, and Kaparilion
Another excellent BANG Presents night at The Hairy Dog!
Organised by Alpha Pro Creative, the evening featured three original bands, starting with melodic metal band Kaparilion, who rose above the odd technical issue and delivered an absolutely SOLID performance. Opening their setlist with my favourite song from the band "Time Will Tell", the Derbyshire five-piece blasted their way through their debut Hairy Dog slot with songs old(ish) and new. Front man, Alex was full of energy and interacted with the audience throughout the songs. Only bit of constructive criticism/suggestion from me is to work on the engagement in between songs.
Vanitas were up next, and a new band for me. Bit of a strange sound in my opinion, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Shifting genres between barrages of technical metal, to lighter, powermetal type tracks that evoke thoughts of fantastical worlds. The band have coined the term 'Cinematic Djent' and I suppose that's exactly what it is they perform. Lots of onstage energy from the vocalist, bassist and drummer, which is always great to see. Crowd participation and between song banter were also on point. This evening was a hometown show for frontlady Jade, and there were a fair amount of folk in the crowd out to show support, which is always a great feeling. My only criticism are that some of the vocal parts fell flat. I'm not sure if it was an off day, however they displayed great showmanship, technical ability and kept the crowd engaged, and so I will definitely be keeping an eye on them.
Ending the night were 28 Double performing a hometown show. Full of energy from the word GO, the Double delivered bluesy, stoner rock riffs akin to Black Sabbath with mighty metallic sections. Much like Gene Simmons of Kiss fame spitting out blood and flying, Iron Maiden's Eddie making an appearance, Nick, the front man for 28 Double whips his top off to expose his mucular, tattood torso. If you haven't seen these guys perform, then go and change that ASAP!
I'm looking forward to the next BANG Presents night on Sunday 4th August, but then again, I am a bit biased with that one 😉

Review of BANG featuring 28 Double, Vanitas, and Kaparilion
This was our first time visiting the Hairy Dog and what a great venue it is! The bands were all good, the beer was reasonably priced and even though there was only a small crowd the atmosphere was great too. We'll definitely be back
