Grand musical night out. Great bands, great atmosphere, safe and close to train station. Nice venue.

Review of Yoko Pwno \'Part Machine\' Album Launch w/ Acolyte and Iona Z

3 quite different acts - but all difficult to categorise in to a genre. Iona Z is a singer with a great 'jazz' voice and fresh, modern songs with groovy and haunting instrumental accompanist. Acolyte are a 3 piece group - exquisitely crafted and performed 'beat' poetry by Iona Lee, emphasised by a refreshingly inspired percussionist and a skilled guitarist with added electronic gadgetry all to enhance the poetry. Yoko Pwno are a brilliant, energetic 6 piece band - a mix of Scottish trad, a pinch of jazz and classical, spiced up with a good dollop of techno - they clearly love playing together. After years of experimentation, they have matured in to a cohesive The beautifully blended product of 2 fiddles, acoustic bass guitar, banjo, flute, sax and vocals is a joy to watch and listen to.

as a late comer to the Yoko Pwno experience I'm rueing the gigs I've missed - they were awesome... something all of their own in the folk/roots/techno realm with wit, energy passion and power... I'll be looking out for repeat opportunities .....taff
