Review of The Big Family Day Out
The first issue was getting into the place. It had to be through the front gates, but nothing was written anywhere. We parked at the back and was told we had to walk round. It took us over 40 minutes to get into the festival because of walking 2 children to the wrong entrance and then having to be told we had to walk right round the other side of the park.
When we got in, there just wasn't much there. What was there was OK for my 5 year old, but there was very little for my 9 year old that he wanted to get involved. The forest school stuff was great and both of my kids said that was what they enjoyed the most.
Anything that would have interested my kids required excessive amounts of queuing. My youngest wanted to get his face painted but the queue was so huge, we would have spent all afternoon waiting for that. The queue to get into the butterfly house was absolutely massive. The problem was that as there wasn't that much there for the kids to get involved in, everyone was queuing for those few things.
The entertainment on the main stage was a bit hit and miss. The Science show was great but as we were sat up the hill we couldn't really see if as there no one projecting onto the screen. That just kept going on playing a repeat of a competition you could enter. Then there seemed to be a very, very long section of the local Stagecoach kids. Great for parents of those children but not really appropraite for the length of time for everyone else. We walked off as the kids got bored quickly. We walked round the whole site and they were still on the stage. It would have helped to have the times pre-released so we could have planned activities better. We ended up just wandering around.
The biggest issue was the smell. The smell by the main stage was horrific. There were bins over flowing, the toilets had 4 days of usage and that was mixed with the smell of stale beer.
I can see what the organisers wanted to achieve but it just wasn't well thought through.

They need to make it very clear if families are allowed to take food and drink to the event
It is not really fair when they say no to some and yes to others
Childre Can be very fussy in what they eat

Review of The Big Family Day Out
Always loved Family Day and still had a great day however I felt that this year there was less live music acts than previous years. Also felt as the event was completely sold out that further activities needed to be available such as an additional face painter. Having one poor soul working non stop from 10am to closing was almost close to slave labour and awful for the children and parents having to queue for almost 1.5 hours!
Overall still had a lovely day but it would be nice next year to have a few more family friendly bands and singers on the stage as that is what many of us come for especially when the activities are far too busy for the kids.

Review of The Big Family Day Out
There was a lovely atmosphere on the day, helped by the weather, but there was little to entertain the families present, and little to justify the entry fee and the £7.50 pies!! Sadly the park was looking tired after 3 days of highest point and smelt. For cheaper food and to fully explore Williamsons Park (and for free) go when Highest Point isn't on.

Review of Highest Point Festival 2022
Services good, plenty of loos, good variety of food stalls, amazing venue. I was a little disappointed there wasnâ??t more actual bands, in my opion too heavy on the DJ sets.

Review of The Big Family Day Out
Limited stuff for the children to do, entertainment local youth groups in the main so free, queues for circus tent/workshops, we liked previous years when there was more ad hoc stuff to do like the circus stuff just on the field to drop in and do what you like, expected at least some local bands on the stage rather than just youth groups. The Lottery Winners were the only class act and they did a good job of getting everyone going but that was at home time. Mainly it seemed like a huge field of food and drink stalls. The circus tent had seen better days by sunday, disgusting smell of old beer and embedded beer in the grass to slodge through with your kids.

The only downside, as with all festivals, is the toilet facilities - which degrade over the day, and by the end are not really usable. Other festivals offer LaDeDa toilets, I would happily pay extra for these.

Review of The Big Family Day Out
not for the Sunday
I go every year and been tje best year so far Thursday was the best night I’ve been to at HP?
Friday was really good as well
The set up down at the woods was a lot better
Only negative I would say is on tje Saturday there were too many big groups of kids under 18
would be better if they had a day of their own to go to and other days be for over 18s
But that’s just what I think !
