Review of Group D: England vs Croatia (2pm) Hosted by Paul Merson
Had the potential to be a great event unfortunately seemed to be ran by no one who knew anything about football or running a bar. Attended for my stag and was looking forward to being nicely drunk by the kick off to soak in the atmosphere but unfortunately hadn’t yet seen a beer by kick off despite arriving over an hour before kick off. Hard to see what we may paid £32 for apart from the benches we sat on which my mate broke just from sitting on and Paul Mersin which bless him added him nothing to the event. Pies were decent.

Waited nearly two hours for a round of drinks. The bar staff were either not helpful at all or seemed helpful at first, then did nothing. One girl seemed like she would get it sorted, then I saw her sat down having a laugh with the rest of the 30 bar staff doing nothing at the back.
A couple of customers were swore at by the bar staff because people refused to leave the bar without their drinks.
We then received all drinks at once, 2 hours after we ordered them, with 30 minutes before leaving the venue. We couldn’t fit them all on the table.
Aside from the poor service, the host microphone wasn’t working properly.
The pies were well delivered, no complaints there.
Overall, would not recommend.

So we got into the venue and ordered our first drinks for 13.15 (I got an email confirmation regarding this) however the drink didn’t appear until nearly 15:00! In the meantime we got a chicken and mushroom pie which was ok. Then we were chasing our drinks but they didn’t come until we had chased it up several times. Not sure if the drinks were going to different tables because other tables seemed to have more than enough! Disappointing when you pay £5 for a pint! Didn’t even get the water I asked for and it was about 25 degrees!! I definitely wouldn’t recommend and will just stick to watching it in a pub next time!

The venue was set up well with decent screens and it didnt take too long to get in and get seated. The bar must have been very poorly managed as we waited 2 hours for our drinks and other tables were getting round after round. We tried to chase this up on multiple occasions and got nowhere and the staff were not helpful most of the time. The atmosphere felt abit flat as alot of people were sat waiting for drinks and were getting frustrated. We managed to get a few drinks by the end which improved things but overall would not recommend especially considering it was £32 a ticket

Acoustic covers of chart music instead of any actual football songs was an interesting choice. £5 for a pint that may or may not arrive seemed a bit steep. Lukewarm chicken and mushroom pie was a highlight

In terms of getting drinks it was very badly organised. Waited over 2 hours for a drink in very hot weather conditions and was told they don’t do water. We had to constantly chase the staff for our drinks and was given empty promises. The drinks eventually came flooding in towards the end but was too late by that point. The venue itself was ok probably as good as it can be with the current restrictions didn’t take long to get inside and we were seated pretty quickly. The food wasn't really to my liking but I suppose it was as good as a chicken and mushroom pie can be so no complaints there. But unfortunately the drinks situation was a big factor therefore wouldn’t recommend.

Review of ChristmasCity - The Polar Express (1pm)
I have never attended a Drive Through event before but wanted to take my 16yr old daughter out somewhere for Christmas as nothing else was open. We arrived well on time, the event was very well organised and we were entertained with music while we waited to enter the event. Inside there were entertainers and dressed up elves etc walking through the cars for the small children. I have to admit I was sceptical at first but we both thoroughly enjoyed this, it was so enjoyable we will be doing it again next year and taking other family members with us. An excellent afternoon out in such dire times but was well worth the effort in attending and was such good fun as well - all in the comfort of your own car !!
