Review of Sign of the Times
Apart from the weather the festival was managed really well, I'd like maybe a couple of more dance acts in the tent though.
The vip area isn't really worth the money as the food vouchers gave u not particularly great food and the venue outside had more atmosphere
The campsite was clean and loos always replenished , been twice to this festival and think it is worth the money and the location is great!

Review of Sign of the Times
A small festival whose main audience demographic was over 50. This was only the third year and BAD weather hampered the event. Contingencies for this weren't great (day people were forced to park wherever they could on the road as car park treacherous) The VIP tent was a godsend with all the rain and mud but this wasn't cleaned and didn't look great after day one. The VIP toilets broke down on the second day and smelled really bad. The music in the big top tent was in too close proximity to the main stage so if you were in the VIP area you heard both together. (Perhaps a live feed from the main stage into the tent would be a good idea for the future) however, that being said, the music was good, the atmosphere great and I would definitely go again.

Review of Sign of the Times
I attended last year. I bought tickets after the lineup had been released. This year I bought them before the lineup. I préfères the bands and knew a lot of of the bands in 2023. That's not to say the 2024 lineup wasn't solid. It just wasn't as familiar to me or my friends. Last year we were in a heat wave, those year it was a downpour. I realise no one has control over the weather, my main complaint was the lack of planninf for the heavy rain. I know the forecast want as bad as the rain we got, but I feel they should have been better prepared to help manage the efecra of the rain. The amount and depth of mud by the loos and in the main path from the campsite to the arena gates was dangerously slippery. Some duckboard and hay would have been helpful. We noticed they put jaiy down in front of the bar areas but not the high traffic areas. Also there was an issues with parking and cars getting stuck in the mud when leaving. Some attendants should have been around to help stuck cars or to better guide drivers out of the parking using better routes where possible.
We spent a lot more time in our tent and their were far less people attending the shows. The nud, not the rain, was our main deterrent. A bit of a shame really for attendees and for th bands who were out performing to small groups.
On the plus, there layout was better in the campsite, the arena space was better used too. So there were some venue improvements. I believe there were more food vendors and variety too. The addition of picnic tables and some covered areas (for shade or rain) was nice to see as well.
I would suggest that for a 3nday event, it runs Thursday - Saturday. Or Friday-Sunday with an earlier start and finish on a Sunday say 11-7.
We still had a good time overall.
To sum up plus a couple of other points
- organisers need to be better prerared for rain and safety to prevent so much mud in hight traffic areas and risk of slipping/falling and for roads/parking access and support if it's muddy.
- Good improvements over last year iin terms of venue/layout/vendors
- still find it odd nobody checks tickets so anyone can enter the camp and caravan sites without tickets and get a free weekend.
-Marshall's organise tent placement for spacing and have clearly marked pathways would be great. It was busiest this year and tents felt more crammed together, especially in some areas. Setting lines/boundaries where people can set up.
Thanks
Katya

We had a brilliant time at Sign of The Times! There was a great range of bands from 80's right up to date! The site is a perfect size and the facilities were generally good - the loos need a bit more attention and capacity! There were showers advertised for the camp sites but we found none, which was disappointing not a game changer. Drinks were expensive, but in line with most festivals. Weather was pretty bad and we got stuck in the mud on the way out, but a very helpful dumper driver came to our rescue!! Good times!

Great little independent grass roots festival. Brilliant line up. Travis and Feeder were highlights. We did not camp and stayed in a hotel in Bishops Stortford. Travel to and from the venue was only 10-15 minutes away from our accommodation. Easy to get in and out. Would be good in the future if the festival provided a shuttle bus to and from Bishops Stortford although getting a taxi there was easy aswell.

Overall this is a well organised friendly event with a range of bands and good value for money.
My main issues with the event were that the sounds clashed from the 2 stages, so not good if you were sitting towards the back of the main stage. And the mud - and I'm not sure what could have been done about that, other than laying grass-crete and maybe separating the toilets , or locating them at the top of the field, to limit footfall around the entrance area.

The bands were great but the organisation was poor.
They didn't cater for the wet weather(was forecast to be wet). No loos in the live in vehicle section. Assessable area not very assessable.
