Review of Solo live presents Cian Ducrot at Margam Castle
Absolutely gutted. The evening started out brilliant, a small sectioned area perfect for seeing the stage at any view point, brilliant choice of drink and food and great acts ... but when it comes to the stage set up, solo presents need to up their game, especially with an outdoor event, with the UK being prone to mixed weather conditions. It rained for a good hour whilst the support acts were on, with the stage being small and there only having covering / sheeting on the back and top of the stages frame. The sides of the stage were exposed and it was only half way through the evening that black netting was put up on the one side of the stage, netting in which the rain still slashed through. I feel if they accommodated for outdoor conditions for that evening, we would've been able to see the headline artist perform, but we didn't even get a glimpse of that. The stage was that small with little covering that all the bands equipment got soaked whilst attempting to set up, and the stage itself so slippery that it became a health hazard. After waiting over an hour after the headline should've started, we were told the show was cancelled , with nothing else being said to us whatsoever.
I have been to many gigs and festivals over the years, and have never experienced something quite like this. You see places like Milton Keynes and festivals that have such a good stage setup that even through rain and hail, the acts continue to perform through whilst being covered. Equally gutted for the artist themself who travelled that way to be told they were unable to perform.

Review of Solo live presents Cian Ducrot at Margam Castle
Advertised as a family event- it wasn't. Honestly the only thing I would rate was the first two warm up acts, they provided a great atmosphere and got everyone dancing. However, the information guide said there would be a magician and face painter- one stall slapping a bit of glitter on the kids wasn't what was sold. On top of that the guide stressed that as it was an outdoor event, and it would go ahead regardless of rain and we would need to dress for the weather, but the main act, the reason for us buying the tickets in the first place- didn't perform because of a bit of rain. Icing on the cake was that we weren't even told Cian wasn't coming on until 10pm. This was after an hours wait in the rain. Advertising it as a family event but the main act isn't planned to come on until after 9pm again is false advertising. Don't get me started on the food- clearly told you're not allowed to bring food in as there's plenty of stalls there, my daughter has a dairy allergy and she could eat nothing but chips, even the pizza stall that had a sign up saying vegan options said they "forgot" to pull that sign down. No soft drinks for the kids, only fizzy drinks, and £3 for a bottle of water is daylight robbery. Will actively avoid any Solo events after this.

Review of Solo live presents Cian Ducrot at Margam Castle
Cian Ducrot cancelled his set 10 mins after he was due to perform leaving hundreds of people who had waited for hours in the wind and rain thoroughly disappointed. I paid to see Cian perform and he did not, i would like a refund

Hard to review fairly when headliner had to withdraw very last minute due to inadequate staging for the weather, that had been correctly forecast. Last minute screens applied to side of stage, could have been there from the start with no obstruction of anyone's view. That may have saved some of stage getting wet. Warm up acts were good, but everyone was there to see headline act. Disappointing.

Review of Solo live presents Cian Ducrot at Margam Castle
The act we went to see decided he wasn't going to perform due to bad weather even though the two artists on before him were perfectly fine and it hadn't rained since the act before him had left the stage. The announcement came after 50 minutes of standing about soaking wet after the previous act had finished. This Was announced by someone who had no people skills and basically said he wouldn't be performing and so you must now leave. Prices were a rip off. The Greek van that sold tiny portions of chips and cremated deep fried halloumi had no prices anywhere then to be told two portions of chips and 5 Halloumi sticks which were inedible was £20 is a bit of a joke. Clearly try to make as much money out of people as they possibly can by stopping you from taking any of your own food in. Not impressed!!
