Review of Solo presents Carl Cox at Margam Country Park
We arrived at 5pm, when the Solo DJ's were playing. Nice enough setup, got in fine. Unfortunately weather wasn't great, a bit cold and windy. The sound system sounded good. However we were aware there were a number of hours before Carl Cox would play. The toilets were very dirty and considering it was a one event and not totally full that seemed like perhaps there weren't enough, and were quite disgusting with large puddles of piss around the urinals.
we got a drink and had a look around. There was nothing else to do with just one stage. For the amount of money you can go to a festival for a day, Forwards in Bristol for example and see multiple headline acts and stages., and be entertained all day so this felt like a rip off. East End Dubs picked it up, and Carl Cox was good, but the light show and screens were dull, with two large screens being off when Carl Cox came on and the odd laser occasionally, again seeing Aphex Twin or Lefffield at Forwards festival blew this show away. I'm not sure if there were tech difficulties due to weather but it was disappointing. No offence to the organisers who I'm sure sweated blood and tears but I can dance in a muddy field with a booting system and lasers at a free party....we left early to avoid the traffic.
Good
Good bar
Great sound
Great backdrop for a rave
Bad
Not enough to do or see for a full day
Toilets
Stage show lights etc was disappointing
Need more stages / arenas

Warm up DJs were terrible . The big man pulled it out the bag at the end but could have done with being on for longer. Venue in the middle of nowhere and the drink prices were a bit of a piss take. But it was a good night overall
