Review of Celebrating Kenny Wheeler and Dave Holland
Another great night of jazz presented by Terry and Janet. Excellent choice of tracks in the tributes to Kenny Wheeler and Dave Holland and highly competent soloists to deliver them: Mitch Perrins on drums was a particular crowd-pleaser. Even for non-jazz fans there is always something enjoyable to be had in Mood Indigo gigs and at the prices charged, it's a no-brainer.

Review of Terry Seabrook Quintet - Celebrating Wayne Shorter
Cracking gig last night. Terry Seabrook and his men are all seasoned jazzers and they didn't disappoint. Mainly, though not entirely, a tribute to one of the all-time greats of modern jazz, Wayne Shorter, but also including a handful of Terry's own compositions which were impressive. As well as Terry himself, I was particularly impressed by Graeme Flowers on trumpet and flugelhorn. This man should be a star in his own right ! Many thanks also to Janet McCunn and Terry Collie (for once taking a break from keyboard duties) for putting on another belter. Keep up the good work, you guys !

Review of Terry Seabrook Quintet - Celebrating Wayne Shorter
Great music from a group of professional, gifted and experienced players. Good to be reminded how many fine compositions we have to thank Wayne Shorter for and how well they work as a springboard into often inspired improvisation. Time to dig out all those Blue Note recordings from the 1960s.

Review of Vasilis Xenopoulos - Tribute to Hank Mobley
Excellent tribute to the "middleweight champion of the tenor sax" and one of the all-time greats of Blue Note hard bop. Such a great composer and with an unerring ear in his choice of standards. This mixture was beautifully reflected in the quartet's set list and we were treated to Vasilis's usual high quality interpretation with fabulous support from "terrific" Terry Collie and rhythm section. An absolute steal at a tenner. Keep up the good work, Mood Indigo !

Review of Dave O\'Higgins Celebrating Stanley Turrentine
Fantastic way to start 2019 with the great Dave O'Higgins making his debut at the RAC, backed by a superb rhythm section including the terrific Winston Clifford on drums and Terry Collie on particularly fine form on piano. Great choice too of a tribute to Stanley Turrentine whose canon surely has something for everyone, even if you're not particularly into jazz: very funky and bluesy. Highly enjoyable and a decent turnout for very early in the year and the weather hardly balmy.

Review of RAJ featuring Art Themen
What an excellent way to end the Mood Indigo calendar year with two hours' worth of Terry Collie and friends, including the great Art Themen. Faultless selection of standards, including one of my favourites, Recardo Bossa Nova, probably best known by the Hank Mobley version. Nice balance of material with no solos outstaying their welcome. We were also treated to the unannounced bonus of not one, but two Duncan Lamonts (pere et fils) joining in on several numbers, and an encore featuring an inpromptu version of Winter Wonderland led by the wonderful Janet McCunn. Can't wait for 2019.
