Review of Scaresbury - Boutique Halloween Party
This event promised much but just didn't quite deliver.
I'll start with the positives. Lots of attendees made a great effort with costumes for Halloween, the visuals behind the djs looked good and it was easy to get served at the bar...so where did it go wrong?
Firstly the last entry before 8pm thing didn't set a great foundation. If you make people arrive early they of course will, but unfortunately this means lots of people will leave early too, killing the atmosphere for the headline dj.
Speaking of atmosphere, unfortunately the music was so quiet you could easily have a full conversation in the middle of the dancefloor. Thus the atmosphere that you expect to be created by the music at a dance music event where you get completely lost in what you're listening to whilst you're dancing away, simply wasn't created.
Combine that with the early entry situation and it's no wonder people were leaving in their droves long before the end , leaving a mostly empty venue and dancefloor. Poor old Graeme Park was getting his coat on ready to leave before he'd even finished his set, and I can't say I blame him.
Such a shame.

Review of Scaresbury - Boutique Halloween Party
The sound quality wasn't great IMO. The only other downside was how I was addressed by security when using the toilets, I was aggressively told not to be in the female toilets even there weren't any queues in any of the cubicles (male or female), I just went to the first available one... as a gay man it also felt like it wasn't an inclusive event for this reason. So maybe next time round you have gender neutral facilities or for ease multiple male urinals over set cubicles.

Review of Scaresbury - Boutique Halloween Party
There was nothing’ Halloween ‘about the venue , we could only find two toilets with no toilet roll . Felt totally ripped off £30 each not worth anywhere near that much , the sound was awful really echoed around the building the drinks were extortionate we were really disappointed , good group of people there friendly and some good costumes .

Review of Scaresbury - Boutique Halloween Party
Awful venue. Not enough variety in music from the different artists. Most people stood around not dancing. Nice bunch though. No advice from the organisers regarding parking. Won't be back.

Review of Scaresbury - Boutique Halloween Party
The line up and music was great, lots of friendly people and a good vibe and atmosphere. The only thing that let it down was the sound and echo, which I can appreciate is difficult in an old barn, maybe some roof/ceiling decorations required to help dampen the acoustics?? Other than that a cracking night 👌 can't wait for the summer festival in 2024 🙏🙏🙏

Review of Oktoberfest at Walton Hall & Gardens - SATURDAY
Where did the £17 entry go?
Sorry, that should have been £7.
Could have gone to a Christmas Market for free and had the same experience.
No drink included, no stein included.
I wouldn’t do that again for £17

Review of Oktoberfest at Walton Hall & Gardens - Friday
Music was a good mix of live, DJ, and different styles and ages, some classics, great for a dance and a sing along.
Drinks were on the expensive side, but not much more than you would expect for this sort of event - soft drinks could have been cheaper, for those who are driving etc.
Food was nice, traditional options available and fairly priced for the event, however, the queue for the food was FAR too long - there was a lot of the evening wasted by queueing for food. At these events, food should be ready to go and service should be much quicker. Maybe more than one food vender and a little healthy competition would help this along?
Toilets were clean and well stocked, there wasn't even much of a queue, which was great - but by the end of the night, the water had been turned off/disconnected, so you couldn't wash your hands. No hand gel was provided, either. Disappointing.
There should have been an option to purchase a stein as a souvenir of the night, rather than a deposit system which was then enforced quite rudely, by some staff, at the end of the night.
We enjoyed the night and would come again - just a few things to improve to make it even better!
