Review of This is Tmrw presents Future Days: Sunday
The bands on Sunday were all quite different from each other, some radically different (Jane Weaver followed by Bo Ningen) but each band's material tended to be a bit one dimensional for me, especially compared to Saturday's bands. With Squid, Black Country New Road and The Comet is Coming the line up was bang on trend and offered a great selection of new and established talent.
I've been to the venue a few times and the sound quality is always pretty good as is attendance and atmosphere. The use of the corridor as a second stage needs more thought. Swampmeat Family band did well because they have a lot of energy and accessibile sound; it's useless for a quieter or more thoughtful band.
Two other areas to improve: why were people told they could only leave venue and return between 5 and 7pm? Made no sense and do really expect people to stay in the venue from late afternoon until midnight when there is no proper seating anywhere?
Linked to that, the food offer was worse than rubbish and another reason why no one will stay in the venue for 8 hours. Get more food on site or do a deal with the venues nearby - Digbeth dining is only round the corner.
