Review of Retro In The Park 2022
No where near as good as last year. There was no 90’s tent.. you need to bring this back!
Queuing for drinks for over an hour. More bar staff are needed and more toilets are needed.
Felt like this year you had more people there but cut back on the performances.
Not sure I would come back

I thought the whole event was badly organised, queueing for over an hour to get a drink of water which was served in a can! So no way of keeping it in my bag whilst dancing. Queueing for another hour to offer food, then joining another queue to collect my food and got shouted at by the guy behind the food stall. The stages were way too close together! The sound was awful unless you are right in front of one of the stages. Food and drink extortionate prices and couldn't find the tap to fill up water bottle. You really should have a separate stall for just buying water, I felt like I queued for most of the day. You should allow people to go out of the venue too if they need it and get back in, so they can take a break.

When I compare retro in the park to events like retro on the pier and the nights I go to around the country, this was a let down in my eyes . The music was pretty commercialised and not retro tunes what we’re use to, great venue prices etc but music was a big let down.

Great event, but bar prices and the ridiculous 1 hour queues to get served needs addressing.
Forcing people to buy 6 drinks at a time so you don’t spend the whole day in a queue missing the acts and then the bar staff having to open all the cans you buy is pathetic.

Hate to do this because I'm a big fan of the Retro brand but after crushing it last year I was really disappointed. On the plus side the food options were better but that's about it. The queues for drinks were just ridiculous and if there was any access to free drinking water I couldn't find it and no staff could direct me to any and queuing at the bar for up to an hour to get a can of water just took any enthusiasm I had away.
In too many areas the sound was all just mingling together so I couldn't tell what I was listening to so unless you were front and centre of the stages it sounded terrible.
I spent the entire day dancing last year and would usually be dripping in sweat but the lack of freely available water made things feel a little dangerous considering how hot it got in the afternoon.
Another gripe is there didn't seem to be much difference in the music getting played on either stage when you got away from the headliners. Last year each area had a certain style.
I ended up leaving very early which is unheard of for me.

Review of Retro In The Park 2022
Great music and nice small venue. However bar situation was terrible. Long queues at bar and ran out of all drinks apart from a couple of spirits far to early. Bar staff insisted on opening evey can you bought. So you couldn't buy cans of any kind to put in your bag. No rational from bar staff to say why infact very rude. There is no safety rational for this at all other than making more money. If they open everything your more likely to spill it and need more. Absolutely disgusting. They advertised free water to fill up your bottles. There wasnt any. After buying several small cans of water for £3. 50 all opened i mention to the bar staff about the free water situation and apparently they were giving free cans somewhere tucked away. Quite a few people collapsing and needing wheeling off. Probably due to being dehydrated as having to queue for hours in the sun to get some water. Even the food outlets were not allowed to sell you a can of water or c**e to have with your food. That i have never seen before and is a clear rip off forcing everyone to the bar even if they dont drink alcohol. The double shots of spirits were in a small cup same size they put a single in. No large plastic cups so you couldnt even buy a double or triple and put it in a pint sized cup to last you longer. You had to carry 2 or 3 small glasses and then couldnt get some cans to carry back as they were all open. This is all about you losing them and needing more sooner. Do the event organisers have no control over the bar? If they get an outside company in then they need to change them as these are not the type of people you want. Making demands on the food outlets and just ripping people off really. They make enough from the pricey drinks so why be so greedy? My first time there so not sure whether its always been like that but cetrainly would put me off going there again. Nobody wants to spend there day out constantly at the bar and then having senseless rules so you cant stock up to save having to queue all the time. Shame on you event organisers for allowing it! Not very community spirited at all.

Too many scruffy folk who don’t know what a bin is . Surprisingly it’s not a table top for the vastly inflated in price drinks you’ve just queued over an hour for. Didn’t appreciate the sick on my feet (not my own sick) or the rudeness of folk. It should have been a fun day out in a beautiful park with good music. Instead it was just one massive queue with little atmosphere. Left way before the end. Don’t try and invite me back for a 2 day event!

Amazing day and night! All the sets were incredible! K-Class and Basement Jaxx were so good! I'd have personally had Hacienda on earlier in day and ended on bigger tunes with more energy to end the day! They were great though.
